No zip code on post office building & no clerk name on receipt!

Just did my first job for the new-old company, and there was no zip code on the building. Not on the front, not in the window where the hours are posted, and not anywhere else! I'm just starting my report and don't know if that question will take a n/a or blank for the response. I'm going to put a note about that, but how can I answer that question if there wasn't one present? I don't want to lie and fill in what it "should be" because I didn't see it.

Also, the clerk had on a name badge, but the question about clerk I.D. says they want the I.D. number and name from the receipt (not from the badge). How are you all handling this question?

This was a simple shop, but the survey, which should be straightforward, is turning out to be more difficult than the shop....

I have been writing NOZIP in the zip code field. I have not been questioned yet by the MSC for doing it this way.

For the clerk's ID, it is usually a two digit number under the Bill ID # at the bottom of the receipt. I have always just entered this two digit number with no feedback yet from the MSC.

I hope this helps you...

Yes, it does; thank you! In the old report, it just asked for the clerk ID number from the receipt (at least I don't remember it asking for a name in that same question). Although I think it did ask for the name in a separate question, didn't it? Then you could give the name on the badge, if the clerk was wearing one.

IIRC the old report did ask for a name, but the new report asks for a name or ID # from the receipt. I believe it asks for the information to come directly from the receipt only. Like you, I have seen their name from a nametag, but have never seen a name on the receipt itself, just the two digit number.

I would recommend entering the two digit number from the receipt...I think you'll have no troubles doing it this way.

Remembering to look for a flag is the issue I have. Many of my post offices do not have the name and zip on the building and the last one I did I remember I had to crane my neck til it was almost broken before I saw the small flag flying on a building that was sandwiched between others on an urban street. Thanks for the no zip hint.
No problem at all -- glad to be of some help.

For some reason, the flag is an easy one for me...perhaps from my military service days.

I have noticed roughly half of the buildings I have visited have not had the zip code visible on the outside of the building. Like you, I check every possible place thinking I must be missing it, but alas, it just ain't there...lol!

These have become one of my favorite shops! I have great schedulers for my area and love it when I have something I need to have shipped that meets their zone and weight guidelines. Win-win for me and I think the report is easy relatively speaking. I am a bit concerned about the rise in shipping prices eating into the reimbursements. I'm hoping the client sees fit to raise the reimbursement level to compensate for the rising prices, but I'm certainly not holding my breath.

The client sure picked a funny time to raise prices in the midst of recent record low gas prices. I would have to believe that is one of their larger costs and it has been cut in half as of late...

Well, I finished my report, and it was, as many folks here have mentioned, easier than the previous one! It seems to me that there weren't as many things to report on in detail. And when there's no wait at the post office, doing the shop and the report is worth the $$.

Sandyf, the flag is a tough one for me, too, because I take it for granted that there will be one, and then I have to really stop and probe my mind as to whether it was there or not!

My mother hit me up this week. My niece's birthday is next week and my mom wanted to send her a care package at college. I had a regular box shop today so shipped her package for her. 5lb to zone 4 for $13. Take out the max reimbursement and my mom paid $5 to ship her cookies and goodies.
I had to ship an order for my online business, and even though I shipped to almost the furthest zone away from me, it ended up costing me twenty-five cents after the maximum reimbursement. (Assuming the shop will be accepted, which is never guaranteed; if it's not, I will have paid more than $10 to ship something Priority Mail that would have cost about $4 to send first-class. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)
