sears/kmart announced audit

Has anyone ever done these? I love announced audits but I'm wary of doing these because it says you have to do the audit alongside the employee. I don't like having to do the audit with an employee. 1. How does any business have an employee they can just give up for 2-3 hrs to work on a random audit?...I feel like I'd be a burden. 2. I don't like to have the person whom the results of the audit affect there with me for the audit I think it's a conflict of interest. I don't mind going over my findings after completing an audit but not have the employee over my shoulder the whole time. Just wondering if anyones ever tried these and how they panned out

I don't know it says it could take 3 hours which I've found with this MSC that when they say 3 hrs max I can usually get whatever it is done in an hour - 90 minutes
I did this audit in my early days of shopping. It took me 2 hours back then and may only take 90 minutes now. I don't think they can be done any faster. The store manager walks around with you and you just pick an item in each dept to scan. You enter the results on your paperwork and then online upon getting home. May even able to enter as you go. Figure 30 mins to enter so anywhere from 2 to 2 and a half hours. At $25 not worth it. $45 would be my low assuming it is local. Yes sears/Kmart has the employee/manager available which is another reason they have been in bankruptcy for the last 20 plus years.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I have never done this, because it seems like a lot of work for what they are paying. I could spend those 2-3 hours doing other shops for more pay.
I got excited when I saw this new shop for $25 on the MSC website until I learned it takes 2-3 hours. I get what you guys are saying that maybe it would only take 90 minutes if you are efficient but I am not willing to try it. There is also a $10 one at Sears Auto and that one says can take two hours too! SMH.
I used to do these pretty regularly for the MSC that did have them. I'm assuming you all are talking about a new MSC.

Unless they've changed it a lot, 3 hours is about right for the first one. I did get it down to about 2 or 2 1/2
hours. Wouldn't touch one at $25, not even at $50.
I did a few of these in my early days. I don't remember any actually taking three hours and my average was around an hour and a half. The data entry was only about five minutes because then only incorrect prices had to be entered. Other than one crappy store, I never had more than two or three incorrect.

To me the biggest issue is the employee. It is impossible to complete the audit without one and would probably take even longer. So you end up in a situation where the employee will determine how long it takes. I was lucky enough to have some great managers to help me knock them out quickly. Only once, and it was the store with a lot of errors, did the manager slow me down. Every time we found an error she was taking the time to correct it on the spot. She also had some of the worst employees imaginable so we kept getting interrupted. That audit still only took two hours.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
I would do one for $50, but not any less. It's the same MSC who has had them for many years.
If you have pain issues (back, knees, feet, etc.) you might consider how much time you can spend on your feet continuously. Will you get through an audit without shrieking, freezing up, or holding back tears?

Yeah, I can. I do a lot of merchandising work and I am used to standing on my feet. The last time I did this audit it took me under 2 hours. I know plenty of people who can't stand for even that long, so it would be out of the question for them at any price. Trying to keep moving and not stand in one place for too long helps, and that can be accomplished with this audit. And a great pair of shoes is a necessity.
A couple of yrs. ago I did some of these and was happy an employee helped me. If I found discrepancies, I marked my report as such. I, in fact liked them. If I remember correctly, the pay was $50.
