THIS IS A SCAMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY SEND YOU A PACKET THAT WANTS YOU TO GO TO A WALMART OR A KMART WHO EVER IS CLOSER AND BUY SOMETHING AS A SECRET SHOPPER. SOUNDS GOOD THEY USTO HAVE LEGITAMATE POSITIONS SUCH AS THIS BUT UPON RECEIVING THE PACKET I GOT 2,800 AND SOME ODD CENTS TO SEND 2 OTHER PEOPLE THREW MONEY GRAM?????? NO WAY I GOT CAUGHT UP IN ONE OF THESE A FEW YEARS BACK AND GOT IN TROUBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY ARE USING MONEY GRAM TO MAKE MONEY SOME HOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DONT DO IT ITS WRONG, NOT LEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You haven't said what the name is on the correspondence. Regardless it sounds like one of the many Mystery Shopping scams going around. If you check out this forum you will find a lot of good advice on legitimate mystery shopping. Real Mystery Shopping Companies (MSC) normally only correspond with shoppers by email or telephone and they don't pay in advance.

No need to yell... Glad you spotted the scam (although it required a previous experience), mystery shopping itself is not a scam but there's plenty of scammers out there pretending to be mystery shopping companies.

You can google our forum for "scam" and you'll find out you're not alone in this, some have been taken, some others have spotted it on time.

We should also invent a new category for these kind of OP's: "drive-by complainers". They register, shoot their complaint, then disappear and don't contribute anything else to the forum or even their original post...

How many times do we have to tell shoppers that Mystery Shoppers don't get checks to cash. This SCAM is so old. I read this SCAM in the paper every day.

Yes! That's a great idea. There was one not too long ago that came on here to vent. It was a well phrased vent and not over the top ranting. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have done that. But being as specific as they were, I knew that the MSC would be on to respond since she had enough details for them to know who she was. They did indeed post a response and she has not logged on since to see it. Again, not saying that she was wrong to vent or even that her side was wrong but if she saw the response of the MSC it could perhaps help her to avoid confusion in the future and help with her relationship with that MSC if she wants to work with them again.
