Should you get paid....

I go out to do my job (Medicare) to find they printed wrong address and wrong Community Center. I spent 2 hours trying to find this place, got feed up, saw a cute restaurant, ended up spending 15.00 for a great salad, which I enjoyed. Question is: Should I get paid for my time, since they printed the wrong address. Who else has had this happen.

No because you did not complete the shop. Similar circumstance, simple phone call to determine the actual location, slide in with minutes to spare. It is why with most of the Medicare stuff they want you to arrive ahead of schedule so that if there is a problem you can regroup and get to where you need to be.
They also had the wrong phone#, they somehow got the Community Center mixed up. No one at the Community Center I went to heard of it, and the lady looked it up on the computer, trying to find right location, but nothing was shown. Be interested to see what happens, will report back. I think I should get something, as it was there fault. They hold these things at many different venues through my community. This was the easy one, not a seminar, and many times (I am told) Agent doesn't show.

It will probably depend on the MSC. I had situations where the address was wrong and I was paid.

You should get partial payment at the very least. The error was on their end.

Calling ahead to verify the address, or GPSing the address, can prevent a shopper's waste of time and gas. If an incorrect address is revealed, communicate with the MSC, prior to making the trip.

Whether you get paid depends on the policy of the MSC. Hope for the best!
There are several of these jobs with this wrong address for July. I hope getting the heads up from me helps the MSC. correct their problem. I admit I don't call before going out on every job. I assume the MSC (for the most part) know where their sending you, unless they tell you to call ahead. My town business doesn't fold overnight. Having this held in a Community Center wouldn't clue a phone call, since the agent has a cell and the center wouldn't know if she is coming or not. Time will tell, I spoke with them.
I remember one job when the associate didn't show and I drove 30 miles, and being it was Saks where other departments wouldn't know if the Beauty Advisor would show up, she is an independent, I got full pay.

If this is the same company. I had two Medicare "no shows" The agent never showed and I was paid in full. This company also pays in full when you go to a "business inspection" and the target never shows up. I had that happen 2 times. smiling smiley
Sounds like the same company, I do a lot of work for them. Good to hear they paid you, very nice...smiling smiley

The address the MSC provided you is part of the "contract" you agreed to as an IC. You went to the address you were contracted to go to to perform your contracted duties. You made every reasonable attempt to find the correct location to no avail. In my world, you should be paid for your time.

When we make a mistake, we pay the price. By the same token, when the MSC makes the mistake, they should pay the price. In this case, your contracted fee. Perhaps this would teach the MSC the lesson to pay more attention to the contracts they let in the future.

i tried an in home one ONCE...person cancelled, MSC harassed and attacked me for a late report even though i kept them updated that the target was not rescheduling...i don't remember the details...but i told them to shove it..wish I remembered the MSC...wish they had deactivated me....but I didn't actually use the term 'shove it'
Mert.....I didn't go to the wrong address, I went to the one given to me, I went to their address, no reason to verify it, I was there. They need to find out where it will be. Many venues have these Kiosk Medicare information booths. I did everything and more asked of me, the only way I would have known where it was held, would be if my crystal ball was working. I think I'll get something for my time, thanks to the other poster that said she got paid for the same problem.

Just be sure to take a picture with the address showing. then you have time, date and proof you were there. Send with email to scheduler.
I've done some of the Medicare table-type shops and when I arrived at the location there was no table/no agent. I was still paid. Sometimes there are tables but no agent and again I was paid. I switched to a Medicare supplemental insurance and am not eligible for those shops with that particular MSC now.
Why aren't you eligible? I'm not even eligible for Medicare and have done Medicare shops. In the past I've been allowed to say I'm asking for a parent.

Update....I am getting paid half of the agreed pay....I'm fine with that.
