TP idea for ya! Charmin coupons are out for $2 off a pack of the basic tp. The 4 pack rolls were on sale at my grocery for $2.50 each so $0.50 for 4 rolls of Charmin basic and you can use up to 4 coupons... grinning smiley PS I also follow the coupon ladies blogs to get ideas.

but charmin is not cost effective...need about 4 rolls of charmin to equal 1 roll of Scott..charmin gets used up too fast..at 50 cents for 4 rolls that does come out to the same price for a roll of scott....but that would not be a regular purchase...you can name the store that has it on sale...as it is not specifically saying that store is a MS assignment..

You have to be careful with that one, though. Some grocery stores actually don't split the cost on one item, you have to get two of them to get the deal.

Definitely. The town I moved from last year had grocery stores like that. More than once I got two of a nonperishable item that I knew would take me a couple years to go through, because it was better than leaving the free item behind.

Mystery shopping around Georgia.
Everyone here knows about coupons.com for printable coupons online, right? Some stores double coupons, too
If you go through swagbucks.com for your coupons.com coupons you get 10 points for each of the coupons used. The points aren't worth just lots, though over the years I have cashed them in for $10 Lowes' gift cards. Some stores also do UPromise, which allows you extra reimbursements for specified items. The money can be used towards college or just cashed out as soon as you have accumulated $20 or more. Smartsource and a few other printable coupon sites are available, including a Betty Crocker website.

i have never seen a store that will give you half price for a BOGO when you only buy 1...

I know of at least one chain in my area that will do just that. I was not aware of this option, but an employee told me about it just today, I tried it, and it worked like a charm. The item I purchased was discounted by 50% and I only had to buy one and not both.

Every grocery chain is different. I learned something new today and I never would have even thought about it if the employee hadn't pointed it out to me.

I use a combo of rebates, coupons, and cashback credit cards. I take on multiple of the Deli 1/4 + 2 other items = $12 reimbursement shops a week. I only need to worry about my meals during the week, so I buy whatever is the best deals from these. I usually get pepperoni as my deli meat and buy pizza making supplies on one of my trips.

The chain for these shops has Freebie Friday coupons. A quarter pound of on sale deli meat comes out to $2 and a bit, so I use my free item and grab myself a hefty sized steak that comes out to about $10.
Two major grocers in my area do not require purchasing both BOGO items. One BOGO will ring at half price. Both stores accept competitor coupons and allow stacking with a manufacturer coupon. One of the stores doubles coupons up to .99, every day. Clip, clip, clip!
There are also bloggers who monitor grocery store sales and do coupon match ups which really saves a lot of work. Southernsavers.com and Moolasavingmom.com are two that come to mind but there are many others.
A half gallon of milk for $1? Toothpaste for $2?

clinen, where do you live? I'm moving there!

I live in a small city (250,000 people) but it's an area where if you drive 25-30 minutes in any direction you encounter farms--lots of dairy farms in addition to corn, etc. So grocery stores around here often have some good deals on milk since the local dairies don't have to drive far to deliver. Even the convenience stores sell milk for $2.50 a gallon. I know when I go home to visit in Florida I am always shocked at milk being close to $5 a gallon and butter never being less than $4 a pound. Toothpaste deals, on the other hand--it just depends on what brand you are buying and if you have a lot of grocery stores competing with each other in your area. With use of a coupon that is doubled, you can get a good price on that as well. I know I got a bunch of Crest toothpaste a few months back for almost free because I had coupons that were .75 each and the store was one that doubled up to .99 cents, and the sale was 2 tubes for $3. I only had to pay the sales tax on them.

All the grocery stores in my area do that....if a BOGO is $2.50 for 2, I can always buy just 1 and pay $1.25. That's a help when I really don't need 2 of the item!
Does the grocery stores that you guys do the shops in have a frequent shopper or rewards program for that grocery store? If they do, sign up. I do the grocery shops in Northern CA that I frequent anyway. They have a rewards program where you earn a certain amount of points/per dollar amount or special promo points. Anyway, after each calendar quarter, you get a gift certificate, say if you accumulate over 900 points, you get a $9 certificate to redeem for groceries. Safeway has the U Program. From time to time, they offer a $5.00 savings coupon if you spent over $25.00. And since someone mentioned coupons, sendearnings.com has a section for grocery store coupons where you earn 10 cents for each coupon you redeemed. The grocery store coupons are from the coupon.com site. Why not rack up some passive cash. When you accumulate a certain dollar amount at sendearnings.com, you can redeem your cash. Please read the disclosure at the sendearning.com site since I don't want to be misquoted. Sendearnings also pay cash for web searches, surveys but you need to login through your account at the sendearnings site to get credited.
I liked doing the grocery store shops because it allowed me to try stuff that I would not normally buy due to my budget. I also check the meat dept. for special sales on their meat. I had brought chicken meat that was going to expire on the same day or in a couple of days that had additional $3.00 off the regular price. So if chicken thighs were $1.29 lb for 8 pounds, package was regular priced at $10.32, with the extra $3.00 off, it came out to $7.32, which equal to about 91 cents a pound for chicken thighs. I end up freezing the chicken so it would not spoil.

are you not allowed to spend more than $9. I do a different grocery that reimburses $10.50....i typically spend about $20 on various things I need.

The shop they are talking about has a MINIMUM purchase of 3 items and $9. You can spend as much as you want or need to.
I am in Indiana and just got milk on sale today for $1 for a gallon. Aldi has it for $1.49 as a perpetual sale for a gallon. The regular price not on sale for other chains in the area (Kroger, Meijer, Sams Club, etc.) all have it at $1.99.

The Crest pro-health toothpaste was on sale for $2.69. Kroger took off a dollar for the Mega Sale they were having plus I found a 50 cents coupon for it on kroger.com. I also found a Checkout 51 rebate for 75 cents and a Mobisave for 10 cents. All of these I was able to use for that same tube of toothpaste.

So yes, milk and toothpaste can be found for cheap.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.

One of my problems with grocery shops (among others), is picking up the product whenever I evaluate an employee. If I ask the location of an item, it's usually something I actually want, and often buy the item. It just seems to validate and cover me from being detected as the little fink I really be. winking smiley

I wind up with an assortment of stuff from throughout the store, and the total is always more than $9.

It feels great though, to get a huge discount on my grocery bill. If the total is $22, and I'm reimbursed $9 + paid $5, then I get all of the groceries for $8.

You are over-thinking this. First of all, I doubt the employee is watching your every move from the time you enter the store to the time you make your purchases and leave the store.

Second, people change their minds all the time. I can not count how many times that the person in front of me at the checkout line has removed items from their cart and stick them in the magazine rack or tell the cashier that they do not want the item or changed their mind. Some people go over their grocery budget and have to remove some items. Again, you are over-thinking this.

I've never had an issue with Charmin not lasting long in my house. There's just two of us-- a male and a female but a pack of TP will last us a while. Of course, we're gone to work 10-16 hours out of the day too...

I'm in Southern West Virginia. My grocery chain frequently has the half gallons of milk skim thru whole & buttermilk for $1 each. They sale the gallons at times for $1.69!!!! And Crest and Colgate are often 10/$10 and sometimes even BOGO on top of that!

I've done a lot of grocery shops.

This is a small town, and the employees recognize customers. I don't worry about it, and try to enjoy mystery shopping.

And thinking is good for me. Little brain push-ups don't hurt anyone.
I do a weekly shop at Aldi. I get reimbursed $1. I buy chili powder if the eggs aren't on a weekly special.

Actually, this is the green grocery store that does do that (1/2 price on BOGO's) and it's one of the scenario questions you ask: "On your BOGO, do I have to buy 2 or can I buy one and get it half price?" Because if it was not half price, I might not get it.
I'm next door. I wish I saw prices like that!

In my state the green grocery stores are "true BOGO" in that they require the purchase of two to get the deal. In some states the same store has their BOGO as a half price sale due to competitor policies.
