Has anyone done the fast food surveys for Trendsource?

They seem to be paying well, and I wondered if they were worth the $. I don't mind asking people's opinions when they're getting something out of it.

The ones that require photos? I tried taking photos and was asked to please wait until they discussed with their district manager and were able to confirm me because the verification letter is 18 months old!!!

No, this is standing outside asking customers to take a survey. I went ahead and accepted it. Initial pay too low, but they were offering a bonus, and I think I've become addicted to bonuses ;-).

I am in Texas am a new shopper since mid August 2016. I have done 5 shops for them and have been paid in a timely fashion. I did have to dicker with them on one shop that I felt their writer was not clear regarding his request; but, I got paid for it. The shop was a nominal paying shop. I now look at shops instructions and questions to see the detail and amount of time it will take before I shop, to read, do the certification, then shop and fill in the survey. If I do not feel it is worth my time, I will cancel the shop.

@Itsy, Be careful about cancelling too many shops, especially as a newbie. MSC's track this closely, and don't look fondly on shoppers who cancel a lot. Soon, they will simply not assign you shops, because they may view you as not reliable enough. Better to power thru the shop, use it as a learning experience, then say, "One and done for me!" Soon you will learn to gauge which MSC's ask too much for too little. I have done thousands of shops in my 10 year MS history, and I don't think I have cancelled more than about 5 times.

@Password, sorry about the hijack!

Kudos to Trendsource. I did this yesterday (tedious and my back is killing me, but interesting) and the pay, with the bonus, is here TODAY. A big pat-on-the back to Hector.

You make a great point. It was like pulling teeth to get a Maritz shop thru my scheduler for me after having to cancel 1, and move 2 around. and decline 3 others. I had an emergency with my father having leg & lung clots and had to go to a specialist to keep a check on clots moving to the heart or brain. Anyway, tedious time for us! And he broke his radius and ulna-- compound fracture just dangling outside of where it should be... which is a no go for someone with a clotting disorder and on blood thinners. He's GREAT NOW so whew, but I think they thought I was crazy as I was writing in and trying to get things moved and canceled and such.

I did snag up my first shop with them in about 6 weeks since this all happened so hopefully I'm back on their radar. I had been dependable. There's several shops with bonus I wanna grab up! Hoping they see I did a great job yesterday and that my family is safe and I'm ready to play ball again!

Thanks for the headups. My time is valuable and since I find that if a company is deemed to be reputable they should be upfront with the specifications of the job before you even accept it. I value myself and do not work for companies that can't be upfront and when you are given options to select why you cancelled a shop such as: too low of pay for the time and requirements - that should be respected. Some of the companies are not worth working for it you are treated like slave labor. To use the excuse you are a contractor is not going to hold water when they pay well below minimum wage . I had one that actually attached the incorrect specifications (they attached another company specs.) I told them about it and the response was, "what I don't know what you are talking about." He never corrected it. Then the shop was cancelled and he rated me as a flake. I said if you continue to defame me as a private person that is grounds for a defamation/slander lawsuit for damaging my reputation thru no fault of my own but the scheduler. By the way I kept the email from the scheduler with the wrong company attached.

One is better off doing merchandising jobs which pay mucho better (well above minimum wage) that some of these companies.

I highly doubt you would be able to collect on that lawsuit. You'd need to show that his statement that you flaked was false. Since there is no legal definition for "flake," it would be difficult for you to prove that it was a false allegation. [www.law.cornell.edu]

As an independent contractor, you are not guaranteed an hourly wage. You choose how much you make by not applying for those jobs that don't meet your monetary requirements. It's safe to say that (most?) every one of us has taken jobs that net less than minimum wage. Finish them anyway and do them correctly if you agreed to do so. Then don't apply again.
