How are companies I didn't sign up for contacting me?

Every so often, I get an e-mail from a MS company I never signed up for. I'm only signed up for about 30 companies, but is one of those companies selling my contact information to third party MS companies? Thanks for any help!

Make sure it's really an MSC company. Sometimes I get emails from a gmail or other domain and not from the actual MSC where someone states that they are a rep from said MSC when they are actually a scammer trying to get my personal info or mail me a fraudulent check. Otherwise, it could be that schedulers share information. I have gotten some emails like that as well.
Could it possibly be a scheduler? Some schedulers work for a number of MSCs. If you are registered with one of their MSCs, you will get emails for all of them.

Just tell us the name of the scheduler that's contacting you, maybe we can figure it out? (I don't think that's an ICA violation)

I'm sure he's a scheduler for multiple MSC's or something like that.
Yes, some schedulers work for other MSCs as well and I think they network a lot with other schedulers. I was asked to do a shop for an MSC who I did not originally sign up for and I suspect they network since it was an upscale shop and I used to be concentrated on those. When they are desperate, they contact other schedulers, I think.
If you are registered for any of the job search boards you agreed by default to be contacted. You can modify your settings. Some schedulers might be potentially breaking their confidentiality agreement as many work for more than one company?

I am not signed up with any job search boards or any board for that matter. I can only conclude that they network, otherwise why do I get contacted for shops that I have never done before and must register with new MSC that handles the shops? Granted the shops are not the typical ones...
If the company is not listed in the Official list below, do a search for them on the forum. If they are not discussed, then they are likely not real. Start a new thread asking about them.

There is no MS company that this forum does not know the good, the bad and the ugly about the operation.
I just got an email and haven't worked for the company since 2006 when I started MSing...totally forgot about them I did a couple jobs back then. I updated my profile only to find nothing available. They must be desperate for shoppers pulling up 10 years.
