Kroger

I know exactly what Bella-Do is talking about. The old MSC did not have as many requirements as the current MSC, and it paid $27 with no time requirement or expenditure requirement. In my area the old MSC just lost them in December.

Different locations have different MSC's, i can only talk about my state. More power to you.

I just saw this in my spam folder. Kroger jut built a brand new store near my house, so I was curious. The email said they give you $100 to shop with and the job pays $200 - 400! I knew that was an exaggeration, so I got curious and googled for scams. Just as I thought, yes it is a phishing scam. They claim to have the email address of Kroger.com. In another place it says Kroger Jobs. Sounds legit, but I know shopper jobs don't pay that much.
Another thing to do with suspect emails is to hover your mouse over the hyper-linked address (if it isn't going to the correct website, it's not a legit email). I also received this email and it is 100% spoofed. As soon as you click the link, they will probably have mined all your information and you will spend the next 30 years changing your password.
What shopping company does Kroger shops? I used to do audits and the mystery shopping company I worked for went out of the auditing business. I really enjoyed the Kroger ones.

This is definitely a scam. Do not give them any of your personal information. I'm guessing you already figured that out but I just want to make sure you understand.

So i recieved the same email from kroger. Never seen secret shopper stuff before. I replied with a rarely used junk email accout. Recieved an email today saying my instructions are in my mail box with a check. Got home and had a check for 3450. Dollars. 300 supposed to be mine for salary on two shopping trips spend 100 on shopping then wire transfer 3000 to 2 different people. The check looks legit. Watermarks and everything looked on the banks website and it looks legit. Any concerns i should have?
Read your post out loud to yourself - does it sound remotely legitimate? Here's your sign.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
COMystery, what makes you the authority to know this is a scam? Are you just jealous you didn't get the check? I got one too. They have texted me even to make sure I was going to do it.

Same question goes for Irene_L.A.
New shopper ehh? Do your homework COMystery.... Bet you take the $10,000 cash a check one too?

@slcalhoun, welcome to the forum. It sounds like you know better than all of us and maybe we are all jealous. Since you are so sure, go ahead and do it. Be sure to come back and let us know how it worked for you.

COMystery and Irene_L.A. are part of a special club. "3 digit IQ club."

Why on earth would they have your cell phone number? They want you to text them as soon as the money is sent, so they can claim it. That way, if anyone of any reason gets ahold of you, they would tell you to cancel the transaction. If they money is claimed, it is too late.

BTW, the people that are running these scams believe that anyone who is greedy and dumb enough to fall for these scams deserves to lose their money. Same concept as the internet lover scam.

I think OP meant IQ was three digit.....lucky she's so smart.....have fun repaying your money, and don't ask members of this forum for advise, your greed has taken over....#laughs on you

I rcv'd the same email and thought it was legit so I completed it. Now I rcv'd an email stating that a money order was mailed to me, to deposit it and follow specific instructions and to email this Mark Anthonio, Task Coordinator for Krogers, at his hotmail.com account when it's done. Thought was legit but after this email, not so much! sad smiley
Just think, mamivet, who sends money up front to a complete stranger? It's fake, I assure you. We have had plenty of unsuspecting people join the forum telling us about their mishap of falling for this scam...but too late as they were already victims. I would take the money order to law enforcement or even to the postmaster general since it's mail fraud. I am so glad you did not deposit it. You know that they generally have you deposit the money order and it shows as a positive balance, and then they want you to wire them a certain amount (usually you keep a percentage). Then, about 10 days later, your bank finds out it is fraudulent and your creditworthiness and banking status are compromised, as well as you being out a good deal of money. So glad you did not fall for this scam.
It is a good idea to report to your local law enforcement and the postmaster if you received one of these checks/money orders. Here's a couple more places you can report to as well:

• Report to the FTC at 877-382-4357 or www.ftc.gov
• File a complaint with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center www.ic3.gov
• If you are in Canada, report to the Canadian PhoneBusters at 888-495-8501.

We tend to have a few people contact us every once and a while because they were scammed. They Google "mystery shopping," and they call us. It's always heart-breaking when they've already deposited it. These scams really hurt our industry and usually take advantage of the most vulnerable portion of our population.

yes i got it a few days ago but i never click the link. i just type it in the search and i find it strange that it
shows 8 job offers but only for reg jobs but not for the mystery shopping
Yes, I received it too. It says "You will be paid with amounts between $200-400 per assignment." Sounded suspicious and now I read this post and see that it is a scam. Thank you for posting!
" Ah well, I'm just passin' through and it's $24+$10 in groceries for me. "
That's more then what is offered around here. But still "Krogering" along
I totally agree with Irene_L.A. It a necessity to "know how to "work" the program. Everyone has to eat....."

I do two a month and they are 30 miles from me. I wait till the call comes in offering a bonus. Then I will find another one to add to it. Round trip is 75 miles. The pay is not the best, but it is comparable to others except
for Ingle's a smaller chain. But Aldi's is the worst.

Anyhow, the pay is better or even with one in my area, and only one. So I work the stores I have to work with
due to the distance its hard to do the shops & get the report in by midnight. However, my daughter moved north of me and there are all of the above within blocks of each other. I am trying soon to do a small run, then later a bigger run. For those on here that have been shopping for years, we have seen the offers of pay to spiral downward. Figure out a way to make what you have work for you or move to where you can. I won't stop doing these shops because the MSC is on time every time with my money. BTW, Krogers does have their own in-house reset team and maybe you might have applied on Narms for one of those. That's how I had a great job with P&G. It was great while it lasted.

I have about 8 stores, 6 are kroger, whole foods, food 4 less and all within 3 miles, so, that's how i make it work....
No driving or parking trouble and I'm there anyway....once you get used to the report it's done in 20 minutes, another 30 in the store, and all the goodies I want, plus gourmet food.

Guys anyone that has a rather large amount of money in the form of a check. Take it to Wal-mart to cash. When Wal-mart says they can't read the numbers of the real looking check. They will tell you to check with the bank next door. The bank will ask you how you got it. You tell them how you got it and what the letter with the check said. The bank will tell you they are 99.99% sure the check is bad or a forgery. Then if you are really lucky they will show you the box of checks they got this past month in stolen or forged checks. My daughter got two when she was looking for a roommate for her roommate when she needed to move closer to her job. Go ahead cash the check but do it the smart way. Do not run it through your account! But please try to cash it. If it cashes do not send them their "money" keep it & do to them what they have tried to do to so many others.

Amen!! Now that is working their system our way!!

That has to be the single worst piece of advice ever. Cashing the check doesn't hurt the scammers because the checks are fraudulent. That money belongs to the bank. The result will be felony charges against the person cashing the check while nothing happens to the scam artist because they are virtually untraceable.

LisaSTL, that check is not cashable in the first place. The numbers on the bottom of the check are just black enough to the human eye but not to the check reader at Walmart, or where ever they try to get it cashed. OR, the numbers are off in the routing & account number. These scammers have been trying to do this for a long time, long before the internet. The internet just gave them a boatload of suckers. The software that Wal-mart and many others that cash checks are top notch and it checks for everything. NO!!! I DON'T THINK ITS BAD ADVICE BECAUSE I KNOW IT WON'T GO THROUGH BECAUSE IT IS NOT LEGIT. The ones on here don't believe what we have been saying so yeah, go get that check cashed. If they run it through their account, then shame on them. They will be the ones uncomfortable, to say the least. Either way, it is their choice.
