Doing Nespresso and looking for a new coffee maker since my plumber told me not to deposit my coffee grinds in the disposal. I have used French Press for years, and like their strong coffee. Suggestions if you have a coffee maker that you can't live without. Finishing Nespresso brings me to my FF burger lunch then home to do my reports. Working and waiting to take Albatross test as soon as I find out some answers to directions, trick question stopped me from passing, even though I did the shop years ago.

You mentioned the coffee grounds before. I'm curious, were you dumping the whole thing down the drain? For both the regular coffee maker and espresso machines, I dump them in the trash. Sometimes there are just a few left when the filters are rinsed and washed. The espresso machine has much less leftover because they tend to come out like a puck.

My French Press has coffee grounds, which I did put in disposal. The newer coffee machines have the ones you throw away in garbage. Just did a Nespresso, great machine may just get it. I like espresso and machine has a side for milk making a frothy form which I love. Guess I'm through with grounds.

Mine are not those pods, just regular grounds with reusable filters for all. I don't know why but I always dumped them in the trash, even when using the French press. Someone must have told me they were bad for plumbing and I don't remember who or when.

Your lucky you found out, I need a new disposal, had no idea....problem wit Nespresso (although I love it), coffee pods cost .70 apiece sold in a package of 10...but think you can get them for less at a discount store. Thinking about change but really like my French Press which has no filters, so very messy to dump the grinds.

Today I have 7 gas stations, The 1st one is 20 minutes past my job and the route will take me home with almost a full tank of gas.
I'm going away for the weekend and built in some shops. Shopping the flights themselves, 2 stops at the airport before I leave, 2 on the way back, and one restaurant where I'm visiting.
I have a nice cluster of shops just NE of the US Capitol building.

I have two little assignments that can only be reached by going through beloved wide open spaces. Additional assignments are available, but I do not have time for their reports. Someone with more time could put together a profitable 1- 2 day route.

My cousin has a composter she puts her coffee grounds and other items in, she has a lovely garden. I know you have a condo, Irene, but you could still spread compost soil in a flower bed or something if you felt like taking the time to compost. I don't compost but should and I think I will start in the Spring. It will be a pain to do in the winter months with snow on the ground, nowhere to put it! It's so much better for the environment then sending so much garbage to the dump. We do recycle and each week have triple the amount of recycling that we do trash.

I do that Jas, I take my grounds out daily and water my plant using them. In the winter it is a pain. I get lazy but that is great advice. Waiting to see if I got a cosmetics shop in my town.

I am sure in LA it's not that much of a pain, LOL. What does it get down to, a frigid 45 degrees for a couple of days out of the year? Here in NE Ohio we get in the negative digits from time to time. I know it's not as bad as upper Michigan but still...the ground is frozen and covered in snow!!!!
We had a year (last) of much rain...before that was a drought, but that's over. Not about the cold, I love cold.
We'll see, still looking at that Nespresso, hoping to get it for the holidays no grinds and since my fav is Expresso and they have a milk thingy that makes foam.....I'm dropping a hint to my kid....very expensive but I'm worth it...haha. until then I shall continue carrying my grinds down the staircase to my patio. My plants have flowered like mad guess they enjoy their morning Joe.....I remember visiting my daughter in Chicago on the coldest winter they had a couple years ago, 10 below....my lips literally frooze. L.A. is sooo spoiled weather wise.

I shopped a regional sports bar today. I did 3 shops a month for them and always enjoyed it. They changed the guidelines and the restaurant changed their policy. I have to order beer, which I don't like. The locations that I do are now dining room only, no bar. Now, just the bar has the happy hour specials.

Today I had a mini-route planned. Ten banks (quick ones), one gas station and a Costco. Then Jose showed up to make things messy, but I got 'em all done. Who else goes into a bank during a hurricane?...only the mystery shopper...little wait time so that was good.

When I was an engineer for a small plant in LA, I had a lot of interaction with the industrial sewer commission. One dude told me that coffee grounds were a big problem for them. He said they interfered with the flocculants or messed with the pH of the bugs that ate the Bad Stuff. After that conversation, I trashed my coffee grounds and k-cups.

I won't use K cups. They are bad for the environment and no matter what I tried it was impossible to get a good cup of coffee from a Keurig.

I agree about the pods, they are not biodegradable and that aspect sucks. I did some demos for both Keurig and iCoffee (by Remington). I was given lots and lots of supplies plus machines. I had 3 Keurigs and my one iCoffee that I still use. There are refillable attachments for all of the machines. I prefer the iCoffee over the Keurigs and I gave my Keurigs away and kept the iCoffee machine. Best bet is to get a rich, dark roast ground coffee to use in your refillable pod so your coffee isn't weak and watery.
A friend gifted me the Keurig with the reusable pod. I grind fresh French roast beans at home. Despite dozens of cups using different grinds the coffee had as much flavor as a cup of Folgers which to me has little flavor. Six of us sampled it and the only two who liked it normally drink Folgers, LOL.

K-cups aren't biodegradable, but they can be burned to make energy at trash plants. That's a better reduction of a carbon footprint, but no one considers that.

That's why I love the iCoffee over the Keurig, Lisa. It uses a steam technology that is so much better than the Keurig. The result is similar to that of a French Press. The flavor is lovely, since there is a wand that actually uses steam. It stirs the grounds inside of the pod and then steams instead of just forcing hot water through the grounds and expelling them. The result is a smooth, less bitter flavor than that of the Keurig. And the reusable pod is pretty darned awesome. I can grind any coffee I wish and the machine heats up pretty quickly in between each cup.

Honny, what you said is all good if there is a way to get them to such a facility. As of now, my trash service does not allow them in recycling and everything in trash just goes to a landfill.

At one point it meant two machines taking up counter space. Mine is actually a Krupp combo with an espresso maker. The problem has been solved by me switching to cappuccino . For guests who prefer coffee, I just serve her lone cup first then make a pot strong enough for everyone else. I actually like the process of making mine and it only takes about six minutes no matter how groggy eyed I am

LOL Lisa, you could make one pot for everyone and just add a splash of hot water to hers. Maybe half and half.

My husband's cousins all like that brown water. Yuk. They're a weird bunch. Can't go to a steakhouse with them, either. Makes me cry to see grown men eating filet mignon well done and with A1.
I've tried the hot water trick and she won't have it. Brown water is the perfect description. At least I've gotten her to finally appreciate a medium rare steak

Today was a grocery store, apt shop and a few phone inquiries. Tomorrow I have a shop a perfume shop for Cartier and shoes at Marmi. I'm really excited for those.
