Button camera placement for video shops - need a bit of advice

I have the PV-500L3 button camera. I've altered two polo style shirts where the bottom button replaced by the button camera. Its very hot in south Texas and wearing a coat or some additional piece of clothing is not an option and would also draw attention to myself. The shirt, due to the heat, is already a lightweight fabric.

I've found that sometimes the video has a slight upward angle even when standing upright. I do not have any belly that would angle the camera that way and have come to the conclusion that the weight of the camera is just enough to angle the fabric its attached to.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a different way to wear the camera. Perhaps on a different shirt. I'm planning on testing out a strip of medium weight iron-on fusible interfacing to add some structure to that part of the shirt. That's the only option I can think of.

Use a regular shirt and relocate the camera down one button hole from where you now have it.

Polo shirts just dont have a low eniugh button for most people. I think LisaSTL uses them but she's vertically challenged so can deal with it being that high. On the other hand I'm 6'2" and the shirt I'm wearing as I type this has the cam on the 4th button.

"Vertically challenged?" I resemble that remark. I didn't just grab the first polo I cam across. It took some hunting to find one with a deep enough placket. Naturally I then bought five or six of themsmiling smiley Not knowing if the OP is male or female this may not help, but my wires are actually anchored by my bra which keeps the camera steady.

I will make a roll of tape (duct tape or electrical tape typically) and put it under the top edge of the camera to force it down a little. I can pretty much set my camera at any angle I want like this and get outstanding video. Often retail and apartment shops have different needed angles and this allows me to adjust between the two freely when I get myself set up.

Kathy Hart told me at the video shopping class (at the IMSC conference) that when the video points upward like that on a female, it is because the shirt is too tight. You need to wear a shirt at least a size bigger than you normally wear and yes it will look silly and baggy but we are not there for a fashion statement. I got one at the Goodwill and had her alter it for me. It is not a polo type shirt, looks like something my grandma would wear but it is lightweight and looks cute if pair it with black leggings (don't need a pocket in the pants if you put the DVR in a shelf bra like Kathy says).

P.S. I am 5'5" and weigh 150 pounds. I would NOT get a video shirt that is less than a XL (and that is one that is in a material that does not shrink). Go to a Lane Bryant, Bonworth or a Goodwill to get them. These are all mystery shopped so will make the shirt reimbursed.

I think the 1 size larger rule fits most people. I always buy mine a size larger. As for where to buy video shirts, perhaps it's because I do some higher end shops but I recommend buying where you normally buy shirts or in stores that you will be shopping. I do a lot of Polo shops, i almost always wear one of my two Polo brand shirts for those.

I wanted a polo because they are so classic, can cover any type of shop and don't have to be changed out when I remove the camera. I also appear to be the only one who did not go for a size bigger. Mine are true to size so not baggy at all.

Mine are true to size as well, but I use the tape.... I've found that when I don't secure the camera a little better than simply having it hang by the button, I'm really good at bumping into something and ruining the angle.... I have many strengths, but agility and dexterity are not among them.....

I've only done one video shop but I'm curious as to the preference for button cams over eye glasses cameras....
I admit I haven't done much research and just used the equipment the MSC provided but if I do decide to buy my own is the button cam rig that much better?
Most video shops are 20 to 90 minutes or longer. Eyeglass cams will not run that long, or anywhere near that long. They are also very prone to technical failure.

Also eyeglass cams look where you look and button cams look where your body is faced. With eyegasses every movement of your head is exaggerated.

I am a female who could easily be related to Dolly Parton. Cam placement is a real issue, as is finding blouses big enough to work for a cam. I have found the tape roll method most reliable. I use 1" Gorilla tape. I also secure the wires with a piece of tape, as I find that moving around can put a strain on them, often altering the angle.
Thanks for all the replies. I'll try the rolled black electrical tape.

I'm only 5'5" and a slim body type so my camera never points upward.

I'd like to find a polo type shirt that has 3 buttons instead of two. Anyone know of a brand that has that?

It's 95F outside this week and any shirt I wear that is fully button down is too flimsy a fabric weight to hold the camera right. I tried it and I could see the weight of the camera pulling on the fabric. Wearing a heavier shirt in this heat just looks odd and drawing attention to my clothing is not something I want to do.

An all cotton shirt that is not gauze is the way to go for both comfort and good camera support.

I'm about 5'4". My shirts had to have a four button placket with the camera in the bottom button hole. It has been so long I don't recall where I found them, only that it took some hunting.

Unfortunately, no. Tags bother me so I cut them out.

Also look at Ross - another place that is mystery shopped.
