Papa John's shops I have done dozens of. never had a problem, but I always upload a lot of pictures. Never know what they want or what they are looking for.
Actually, I always know what they want and are looking for, but I still take dozens of photos and upload the 3 required of the absolutely best photos I have.

SStazz, thanks for the codes. I know we have to see if they offer promotions at the beginning of the call. Have you had any problems using coupons on the shops? I live in the country and so they won't deliver to us and one pie isn't enough, just wish we could do the gluten free ones for mom!

Codes can only be used for online orders. I have tried over the phone and at the counter with no luck.
I've been doing PJ shop for probably 5-6 years. In the last 2 years, PJ has gotten very picky on the pictures. I've that 3-4 rejected... I live an hour away from any PJ location. If I don't take the pics immediately after picking up the pizza, when the cheese is still "shiny", then I find that the pics are rejects, and the shop is not paid. If I pick up a pizza after dark, and try to take pics immediately in my car... that will fail also... So, I've done my last after dark pizza shop. Come winter when it gets dark before I get off work, I won't be shopping for pizza. I have a 13 megapix camera... which really (apparently) isn't good enough, and the company should request a specific resolution if they want high resolution pictures. I never had a picture rejected before the days of smartphones, but I used a high resolution digital camera then. On the other hand, I've never had a "shiny" cheese picture rejected. If your picture doesn't have shine, you might be in trouble....<grins>
I did one the other day and in less than an hour it was approved with a score of 10. I only took 3 photos.

The MSC always approves mine... It's the client that claims pictures are not clear. I always send more... But I'm curious as to how many people have had their shop rejected by the client.

I've told this story before. I did at least 10 shops, same msc, same toppings, same camera, took pic in same place. First negative shop the msc rates me a 10 as usual. A few days later msc emails me says the client says photos are not clear. I don't have any extra photos as I uploaded three then deleted the others. MSC offered to resubmit photos using their photo editor. Client still rejected photos. I never did another shop. I was out $22 for a pizza I didn't even eat.
That really stinks, eyelove. I have been lucky I guess. I have done 100s of these shops for different MSCs over the years and never had any photos rejected by the MSC or client. Keeping fingers crossed.
I do a lot of Papa John's shops because they bonus pretty well in my area. I find the shops really easy and get to eat free pizza while I'm getting paid to fill out my report...lol! However, I do take a lot of pictures just in case. I've had them come back for additional photos a couple of times and they were accepted without problem or delay. So far, I've had good experiences with this MSC.
Approximately how long after your shops were you told the store had rejected them? I did one and was looking forward to doing another one but while I like Papa John's, the location near me isn't the best. I'll eat it for free food, but if I have to worry about it being rejected even when I got a 10/10 on it.... I'm just curious how long I have to wait until I know.
You should know right away. They send you an email with your score. It's always been the next day for me.
For pictures, before you get the pizza, take an index card and write your shopper ID and location number on it. In permanant marker. Then, as SOON as you get your pizza, prop that next to your pizza and take a picture. Take several. To be safe, I also WRITE the info on the box, but that takes times, so the index card allows me to take a picture as soon as I get the pizza. I upload them all, and they can see the time of picture it was recent. They don't want you to hang on to the pizza for a while and then take the picture. So take the picture RIGHT AWAY. My guess is that is the problem.
Ah, ok. I had gotten an immediate 10/10 on the shop from the editor but didn't know how soon after they scored it that the store owner/manager would see it.

There is no way to know right away if the client rejects it. You will only know if the MSC accepts it. Not the client.
leaiso, there have been shoppers who state that they got a good score on the shop and later the client (pizza restaurant) stated that THEY didn't like the photos. So...your report may be accepted by the MSC and rejected by the client. Good reason to take at least a dozen photos.

I know many people use their phones. I have a decent camera on my phone, but the thing is, I have been using my Nikkon for so many years that I still continue to use it for these shops. NEVER had a single photo rejected (crossing fingers knocking on wood) out of 100s (maybe 600 or more) of shops withe the various MSCs who have done these shops. And, this includes the shops back in the day where they had you cut the pizza into sections and take different views, upside down flipped pieces, front view showing just crust edges, etc. You newer shoppers have no idea the hoops we once had to jump through for these shops!!!!
Yes, exactly. That's what I am asking - how long before I would find out if Papa John's rejected the shop? A week? A month? 6 months? I don't want to risk doing another PJ shop if I'm still within the time frame of it possibly being rejected, because it sounds like it is very common for them to do so.

A.K.A

Its been 2 weeks since the MSC accepted mine and I have not heard anything else. Does that mean the store accepted it?

I just don't know. Like I said, I have done 100s of these shops without a rejection. I have been doing these since before 2005 and with various MSCs. Even back when I had to do the dissection shops I didn't get a rejection.

Someone with rejection experience please chime in.
I did pizza assignments regularly for almost 3 years. I never had any problems. The current (new) company that has the majority of the shops now requires the pictures to be downsized. I did 6 assignments. 2 were rejected. The pics looked fine to me. Now, I won't be doing any more pizza assignments. I'm confused about the "image quality being not meeting guidelines" and upset. Pizza assignments were one of my favorites.
Oh gawd, flipped cheese slices were a nightmare. But before that, ALL pizzas had to be photographed straight on shot in front of the pizza only showing the edge of the crust, then an overhead shot, then every other piece flipped over with an overhead shop. Then of course the lovely cheese dissection shops where every other piece had to be cut with a box cutter and stood up on the edge balancing against the other half of the piece...folks, if you never had to do any of those you have no idea what hoops we had to jump through before. Nowadays the shops are easy peasy.
On an IPhone my trick is to take the picture in the "square" format. You have that choice when you open the camera. The square format allows a better of picture of just the pizza as you can get closer. It also eliminates the need to crop the picture as I sometimes had to do before.
I think the problem might be that you are taking the pictures under the light over the pool table. Instead, put the pizza in a dimly lighted area and use the flash (I believe that is in the instructions). I have never had a pizza shop rejected for bad pictures and have been doing them monthly for the past couple years.
Msouthern, it's against forum rules and also a breach of the contract we signed for anyone to tell you. Use the search function on the website with "pizza" and you will get a list of threads discussing pizza shops. Hopefully if you take your time and look carefully you will find the correct MSC.
URgh. in on the being frustrated for these shops. I have done many successful ones in the past and even some of my first ones that didn't have good pictures. Now got first one rejected b/c of the pics. I took like 7 different pics I just think the lighting was not good but I did not have any other option for more lights. urghhh. Yeah not gonna be doing those again unless a huge bonus.
A lot of times, I take mine outside. I know it seems gross, but I'll throw it flat on the deck in it's box in the blaring sun. There's a box protecting it so eh worst case a piece of dirt or leaf blows in. It's likely not an issue. Sometimes I set it on my patio set and do the same.

I did one of these shops, one time, about a year ago. The photo I took was crystal clear, and showed the entire pizza. After I submitted the shop, the editor came back to me to request another picture, saying my original picture wasn't acceptable (I can't remember exactly why). I knew that my picture was very good, and after this request, I could not find anything wrong with it. Since I did not have any additional, better photos (I included the best one initially), I just sent them the same one again. They accepted it and paid me for the shop. Unfortunately, since that incident, I don't take these shops anymore. I'm not comfortable with them criticizing a great picture, so there's no guarantee that my next shop will be accepted.
Oh that's kind of funny, same photo that they initially rejected, LOL. I can't blame you for being wary.
