How to reveal yourself as a MS ?

How do you "out" yourself as a mystery shopper to the company you just shopped? I just got assigned to a phone shop where I am required to inform them that this is a mystery shop call, so they can delete my information from their records.

I figured I'd write a script that I could read verbatim and not sound amateurish, but I was wondering if the other more seasoned shoppers have something they can recommend?

And, because I know it's coming... how do you reveal yourself when you are shopping in person?

Like many shoppers, I never do revealed shops. Word gets around.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I only do reveal gas shop/audits. I just walk back in and say, "Hey there. I'm here for your audit."
It doesn't have to be complicated and they generally don't care either way.

As Hoju said, I simply announce that I am at the location for an audit. I do not say, "mystery shopper." As for reveals, the only ones I ever do are the ones "on behalf of Coca Cola and Frito Lay" or similar. I will simply say, "I am here on behalf of Coca Cola....and I am here to award your golden ticket..(or whatever the prize is). I try to avoid the words "secret shopper."
never say mystery shopper. i always say audit or inspection. most revealed have loa to give to employee. my loas dont say mystery shopper.
Anyone got suggestion for the OP about phone shops? She needs to inform them her personal information should be deleted from their database.

For the phone calls, at the end just before they hang up, I say, "Excuse me, I wanted to let you know that this was a mystery shop phone call." Most just laugh a little and say okay, I thank them and disconnect. It doesn't have to be a big reveal. They know they are shopped and this shouldn't come as a big surprise.

Thanks for the quick responses, everyone. I wrote myself a little script to use and copied it below for others who may stumble in here in the future:

"Okay, [NAME], I would like to inform you that this call was conducted as part of an audit by [COMPANY]. At the end of this call, please go ahead and delete all information I have given you from your records. If you have any questions, please direct them to the supervisor at your office. Thank you and have a great day!"
