Paypal questions

Does anyone know how to reestablish a Paypal account after someone else has caused a problem? I paid off the balance required and it's been a copule of years now, but paypal still has my account marked as permanently locked.

There are a few shops I would like to accpet jobs with but they only work with Paypal accounts. Suggestions please?

If you have two accounts with your bank (checking and savings), you might try using the other account number.
And you probably would not have difficulty just opening another account, using your shopper email address, either linking to a different account or getting a Paypal debit card to use the money that comes in. I have 3 different Paypal accounts, one for eBay, one for shopping and one for a different project and they all link to different accounts.
I have a lot of different accounts with Paypal also and they all have to have a different bank account number. I think that as long as LaGata uses a different account #, things should be fine.
That was my impression as well. But if there was an issue, accumulating money in the account to take out by Debit card might be a possible solution since it would be a freestanding account that only had receipts and withdrawals by the card.
I received an email from Paypal, this morning (?) that they would talk to me by phone, so I will call them first thing Monday.

It is my understanding that Paypal sets accounts using the ip address of specific computers. It doesn't matter what minor details or account numbers there are connected to an account.

The actual problem happened when there was a disagreement with eBay. They did not follow their own rules. Someone close to me was helping me sell some items on eBay and a buyer claimed that they had paid for but returned the product. They had no proof of the return, eBay never even asked them for proof, and we never received the item. I complained to eBay but they ignored the filed protest, sided with the buyer and Paypal paid what they demanded and it went against my account. Paypal then demanded that I repay the amount which was the amount of the item plus a fine of $75.00. That part I was never told about in a timely manner. So Paypal locked my account. I finally found out, paid the amount, but have not been able to open any account with them since.

I have avoided having to deal with Paypal since then but it honestly wasn't their fault. I won't have anything to do with eBay anymore, that's for sure!

I'll let you know what I find out on Monday.
There are a number of Paypal accounts coming from my IP--not only my own, but other friends for whom I sometimes sell stuff on eBay, then there is my significant other's various endeavors etc. These transactions may be done on any computer in the place that happens to be booted and unattended at the moment.

Since you did make good with Paypal and since your argument is not with them but with eBay (of which they are a part, by the way) they may get you reactivated.
Then maybe it was from eBay? I only know I had to pay that amount to bring my account at Paypal back to zero and that's who I had to send it to. Actually, it was three separate $25.00 "fees".

Paypal has their rules and I won't argue with that. The fact that eBay breaks their won rules, at least they used to for sure, means I won't deal with them again. One would never know if they'd be treated fairly.

Note: I checked and it WAS definatly to eBay! Paypal only collected what eBay had charged my account through them.
That's possible also. Either way, I'm hoping to get the situation resolved with Paypal.

They're big enough to not care about little people like me and my mundane problems, but it certainly does create an uncomfortable problem for me when there is so much going on in the online world of work and I'm shut out. Believe me, I've learned my lesson about what latitude I give people, even the one's I'm closest to! I found out the hard way that some of them do not hold themselves to the same set of rules I try to live my life by.

Being self-employed and no other income, I need to have all the options I can garner.
Hey bestfr1303 ----
This has nothing to do with PayPal or eBay, but by golly, I'm so-o-o-o glad to hear your voice again! I missed you and your comments and I felt so sad when you decided to leave us. I'm really happy you're back!
Hang around awhile!

Patty,
You have NOTHING to be sorry about. In fact, I was feeling very uncomfortable
with the posts that were showing up. My last post on that thread said,
"Everyone's opinion count's!" I don't remember my exact words, but I remember
saying something about - this is beginning to sound like a squabble - do
whatever you think is right, blah, blah. I certainly did understand how you
could be upset by the conversation, however, I'm sure nobody meant to be mean
to you or say you were wrong. I'm not going to tell anybody in my territory a
word about MSing, because we have too many shoppers and not enough jobs
around here. Anywhere else, I'm glad to help.
Now, onto this rotten news of yours! I am dreadfully sorry to hear about your
bypass surgery, but I am happy to hear that it seems you have come out the
other side OK. My husband had a quintuple bypass, so I know those are tough on
your body. How long ago did you have it done? Did the doctor's catch the
problem before you had a heart attack? Did you have enough recovery
time, before you went dashing off to do "a little" mystery shopping? Please,
take good care of yourself. We don't want any repeats!
Now you know why my family and friends call me "Mother Hen"!
I wish you success in your fulltime MSing endeavor. Let us know how it's
working out, but easy does it. Remember that old Frank Sinatra, (or was it
Perry Como?) song "Nice and Easy Does It Everytime"? You're probably too
young, but it should be your theme song for awhile!
Take care,
Sandilynn
Paypal update; My account balance is -0- but they have no record of receiving the $75.00 so I have to pay it again and go back through records a year or two old and then, if I find the check and it has been cashed, they'll reimburse me. I was told that as soon as they receive my check, and it clears, I can have my account activated again. So, maybe in a week or two... ;-)

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. bestfr1303, you were correct, they were NSF charges. Thank you.
I have a question for you. Which Paypal account do I want to open? Personal, premier or Business?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sheila
Another point about email addresses. I have 5 for different purposes. I had my Ebay on email@1, and I was using email@2 for my shops. But Paypal will not link the same bank account to 2 email addresses, even if they've proven that they're legit, and I couldn't withdraw money. I had to close the email@1 Paypal account completely.
It is possible to have multiple email addresses linked to just one Paypal account. Up to 5 I believe.
I have 3 email addresses each with it's own PayPal account, (which seems stupid to me), for different purposes and my husband has one too, for MSing. Let me tell you something I just recently worked out in my pea brain, that all of you probably figured out ages ago.
We opened those 4 accounts with our local bank and have to keep a $100 balance to avoid any fees. There sat $400 doing absolutely nothing!
One day I caught this flash out of the corner of my eye, on my monitor, that said something about 4.?? % interest on a checking account. DING DONG! I hopped over to bankrate.com and then bankcd.com and sure enough, there are a bunch of banks paying a good yield in interest on checking accounts as well as savings accounts.
I was thinking about linking the PayPal accounts to their MM Fund, but it's not FDIC insured, so I decided not too. All the ones listed on bankcd.com are insured.
Well, we did the smart thing, (I hope), and picked a bank that had a savings account with an introductory rate of 5.56% APY plus a $50 sign up bonus. Best of all, we only had to have $25 to open and maintain it, to avoid any fees. The rate will drop to 4.61% after 6 months, but that's still good in today's market. You can even have a Bank Money Market Account to verify your PayPal account with, if you want.
You don't have to notify ANY of your companies, because you're not changing email addresses. You only have to notify PayPal that you're changing banks. We left our old bank accounts open for 2 months, until we were sure PayPal had it right. But they did, right away.
Anyway --- just a thought. Now I don't care if I leave money in there awhile, before getting it into something a little more profitable. At this point, there's not much difference. Stocks and bonds are kapuee!
Yes, the on line banks frequently have much better rates than your local ones. I have moved my PayPal accounts when I changed banks and it was certainly not a problem. I keep very little in the bank accounts to which PayPals are linked and very little at PayPal itself because I do feel there are potential security issues with both. I believe all of them use the most advanced technology to secure the accounts, but it takes only one hacker a little smarter.

I have my PayPal linked accounts at two banks, where I have enough accounts to get them all hooked up to one bank account each. This allows ease of online transfer of funds between accounts within a particular bank and part of the household bills are paid from the online checking at one bank and the rest are paid from online checking at the other.

I remain convinced that even "good" interest rates with bank accounts will not allow savings to keep up with inflation (after you pay taxes on the interest) and so to retire and "live on your assets" you must be invested in the stock and bond markets. The investments have to be monitored, but mostly they have to be longer term investments in quality companies so that when you have events like over the past six months you can keep your head and not sell the jewels at garage sale prices but rather be in a position to acquire more at garage sale prices.
Jacob is correct. One account can carry 5 email addresses.

(Joke) Anyone with five email addresses has too much time on their hands. I can barely keep up with two.

Update on Paypal. I finally got through the process and have an account again! It took a month but the wait should be worth it. Thank you all for the wonderful help, encouragement and information along the way.
Does anyone know what's up with bestfr1303?

5 email accounts are a way of sorting mail. 3 are POP3 at Verizon, so they're listed under each other. One personal, one for my forums and groups, one to use on sites from which I might get spam. The other two are webmail, one for a friend who has no computer.

Yes, Beth, you can have 5 addresses on one Paypal account, but you can't link more than one to the same checking account, of which I have only one.
