If you haven't done any work for them before, it's probably a scam. There is a company called Market Force but they only pay about a month after you've done a job. Almost none of the legit companies send checks before you've done any work.
Please read this forum before you get started on mystery shopping, if you are new. You will gain so much knowledge that will help you. And use your common sense, if it sounds too good to be true, you know what to do.

Paid, cash the chequered.
If you didn’t or don’t work for the company don’t cash it. It’s a scam ,
Clearly. Remember : all companies are registered , similar to the BBB but it’s for mystery shop companies. Ask around.

I would take out the word "probably." It's a scam.

Seems like at least once a week someone posts on here with this question. Please use common sense.
I agree with all of the above. You don't get paid ahead, doesn't make sense. Think about it, what if you did a shop and they didn't except your shop, you wouldn't get paid.

It's a fake check. If you cash it, initially it will seem okay, but about 5-10 days after you cash it the bank it was drawn on will know that it is fake and will return it to your bank, and they will take the money out of your account to cover it. If you don't have enough money in your account to cover it, you will be overdrawn the amount. And also possibly in legal trouble for check fraud. Take the check to your postmaster, or if you do go to the bank, ask to speak with the branch manager. He will contact the bank it was drawn on and verify immediately that it is fake. The teller might not know so don't try to deposit or cash it or you will be in big trouble.

Like others have said, Marketforce is a real company who does pay for work AFTER you have completed it. Why in the world would someone send a stranger a lot of money for work that had not been completed? I know that it did not come from @marketforce.com, which is the domain that ALL correspondence with that company comes from. I bet it came from a gmail, yahoo, or some other plain domain that any scammer can make up out of the blue to fool unsuspecting people into this scam. I just got an email today from helpdesk@marketforce.com. You can email them at that address with any concerns and they too will verify that it is FRAUDULENT.
With the ability to spoof email addresses, the "from" address is not a reliable indicator of legitimacy. The real clue is the email recipient is always asked to send their personal details to a different email address on a different domain.

That's true, but most scammers don't bother spoofing because they can easily get gullible people to fall for the scam without having to take the time and trouble.
