Reducing CPI

Does anyone know the best way to reduce a CPI to transmit to MF? It is on my PC as a Word document.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hi:
Reducing a word document is not possible. If the document is in a graphic format (.jpg, .gif, .tif, etc.) it can be inserted in a word document and scaled because it is a graphic. But why would you want it to be a word document, or any text document for taht matter?
Scan the CPI and save it as a jpg to start with and send the .jpg file. I think this is what the MSP wants anyway.
If you don't have a scanner, take a closeup picture on a digital camera. That will give you a jpg file on the camera that you can upload to the MSP.
All this assumes that you have a fairly modern camera that can attach using a USB connection, or you own an outboard device that accepts a storage card and attaches to the computer using a USB cord.
Many MSP's aren't even taking faxes anymore.
I think a good shopping setup is to have a multipurpose scanner that can scan paperwork and produce printout from the computer, copies, jpg's, pdf's, faxes, and e-mail. These multipurpose machines can cost less than $100, and you can take the cost as a shopping expense. You are probably going to want a scanner anyway and a camera with a USB connection to the computer. Welcome to the 21st century!
Actually, this was a replacement CPI,since I closed the shop before getting the CPI, (duh!). There are two ways of saving it, Word, or PDF. I have both copies on my PC.

My printer is not working, so I was trying to convert either one to JPEG to upload.
Finally got it converted and resized via software then found out my shop is no longer listed on the website for uploading. A digital picture (which I have) would have had the same problem. After a call to the MSC, tomorrow it will go on my flash drive and be printed at the library, then snail mailed...(costs less than fax, which I don't have at my house).
I use a free program "PIXresizer". You can resize 25%, 33%, 50% or 75%. I use the 33% when reducing a CPI. MF accepts them.
I copy the CPI in Word to my desktop, paste in my signature, reduce the view to 75%, print screen, copy it into a bitmap image and save as a jpg. That way I never print the CPIs.
Pretty clever AustinMom!
I just use Photoshop, but then I get it free so I don't expect most MSers to be able to afford it!

Most computers Ive ever had or used came with a basic photoshop program. That is what I usually use.
I am not very computer savy. At the risk of sounding dumb, how do I scan the cpi without printing it? Or how do I save it to my desktop? Thanks!
If you are trying to never print it you will need to have some sort of photo editing software that you can bring it into and then overlay a signature in the appropriate place to then save it and upload it. I find it too much of a hassle so just print the darn thing, sign it in real ink, scan it, reduce it to a 415 pixel width (which makes the height about 558 pixels) with my photo editing software, save it as a jpg and upload it.

For me to do otherwise would require doing a select all, copy/paste into a new image in my photo editing software, then doing the signature overlay, reducing the size to that 415 pixel width etc. I just don't bother.
I have never signed it (except maybe once or twice) and they have never commented on it. If they read this, they might make me do it now!
