Meijer shops ending

I just received an email that Meijer shops are ending with the current MSC. So sad to hear this as I absolutely loved those and being that I’m in a somewhat rural area they were a consistent shop monthly. Anyone else sad to see them go? I know change is normal in our world of MS but was just a little sad to get that email today.....

Same here but it is not surprising. With the old format of 6 department shops and a shopper could do 3 a day, very few of the shops were bonused. Now it seems in the two areas that I shop, both the new total store shops and department shops are bonused. I did three of the total store shops. Each one was bonused so that the fee was $50 each. Easiest shopping money I ever made.

Yes I agree with that, I’ve done some really nicely bonused shops with them lately as well! It I such easy money once it gets to about $20 I jump on them. I will say the starting amount of $10 I rarely picked up unless I was already doing another shop that I had to go right by Meijer anyways. To me the $10 fee with $2 reimbursement was not usually worth my time. Just my 2 cents.
I'm sick over this. They were my 'go to' shop. They were simple, easy and often with a bonus in my area.
Between adding the (frequent!) total store shop and changing the scheduling parameters, this must have become much more expensive for them. I know I was able to get nice bonuses also, so I will miss them!
I was super bummed to hear this. Does anyone think another company will pick them up? They were my bread and butter and it will be tough to make up the loss from the $ I made on these!
Great shops! I really enjoyed those also. However, I intuitively knew the end was near this summer when they began asking yes/no customer satisfaction questions on the debit/credit card keypad at checkout.
Heard from one of my favorite MSC’s that the Meijer shops are ending this week. I had three that I shopped very regularly, often with really nice bonuses. Darn!!!

Aw Lucy, I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. Several of my favorite shops have ended this year as well. Well, one ended, one went to another MSC that I won't work with, and the other quit doing a favorite location.

Oh well, guess it will force me to branch out more! When one door closes......

I took a little hiatus and I've noticed several locations aren't on the boards, and many more are no longer shopped at all. *Sigh* I did find out where Cheddars ran off to, so that was nice. Haven't eyed any Cinnabon shops tho :/ I could use a pecan bon with extra caramel.

They were a pain when some depts had zero employees. I cannot get a meat employee often no matter thatthey SHOULD be staffed. You would think they want to know what a normal cuaomter faces.
I couldn't do them anymore since they required geoverify and I don't have a smartphone.
I liked these as well. I also waited until they were bumped up a bit in price (Unless I was nearby). I found that the 60 day rotation was also a hindrance sometimes. The reports were easy- so that was a great plus. I noticed the e-mail did not say they were cancelling the program, just the MSP. Hoping to see a new variation with a new MSP. YES- my rose colored glasses are on!
Yes I also thought that the total store was way too much work for them to be the same rate as a single department shop. Sorry to see them go. They were my monthly pocket money with the bonuses.
I found a kroeger forum where some employees are talking smack about their shoppers! Maybe Meijer has one too...........
oh do share :-) krogers and or meijer!

I am jealous of all of you that have Meijer in your area! I hear it is a great place to shop (not just for MS). We don't have them here.

Barada - if you are serious about being one let me know. i have the 'inside scoop' on them.

Oh, I bet he does! Lol!!
I have found, in my Merchandising work capacity, that the store directors, gm mgrs and grocery mgrs are peons who lucked out being in the right place at the right time to get their jobs. They are NOT graduates of marketing, food science or graduates at all, usually. And most of them, especially, but not only, Albertson's mgrs come with all of the results of an abused child.
The email said the shops were ending within the week. In my area, that was the end of Oct.

I once did a bakery shop with a customer service team member and a meat with a grocery manager. Git'er done!

I have five nice pair of boots, Kitchen Aid appliances at 25% of sale price and lots of other bargains that got me back on my feet. If I had not been there mystery shopping, I would not have made the time to find them. I'm wondering how many sales they would lose from mystery shoppers. My total this year so far is over $1000.

I am pretty bummed about this. The new msc has the $14 total payment but it includes wayyyyy more work than the old msc. You have to interact with meat, produce, deli, several more employees, etc. It's now on my 10 foot pole list. What a shame.
