Top 10 Mystery Shopping Pet Peeves

Entering a coffee shop that clearly advertises having free wi-fi, only to find out, while sitting down with the coffee you just bought from them so that you could use said free wi-fi, that the wi-fi is down - and has been for two weeks.

So, this is a thread on "Pet Peeves". Anyone notice on the right side of the screen is a forum line in dark blue letters with light blue background that says "More About Veterinarian and Pet Mystery Shopping."? That just made my night.
I just decided I have another pet peeve, being a "tell it like it is" girl, (said tong in cheek)....... .members who inflate their earnings as in: I made 200.00 for a quick Best Buy shop....right (said sarcastically). I may have too much time on my hands....

Why would you suggest some members are lying?

The forum received a post from a member saying L.A. gives big bonus's which I know isn't true.
The zip I had never heard of, somewhere in the boonies...I felt this not true or duable.

I figured you were talking about me.

1. You clearly don’t know every zip code in LA. Look it up - it’s in the area . I don’t expect anybody to have every zip in a large city memorized, but to claim somebody is a liar without cross checking facts is out of place.

2. When I made the post I looked up shops forEPMS in that area. They start at $40 and most had $20 bonuses before being claimed.

3. As for my earnings, I have put in long hours to make my money. It’s real. It can be done.

In no particular order:

1. Schedulers who (and MSCs that) demean the profession by saying that shopping or particular shops are fun.
2. Editors who do not understand basic grammar and the MSCs that are so sloppy (or cheap) to engage their services.
3. MSCs who engage in fake news - i.e. saying that PayPal is not reliable.
4. A particular MSC that clutters the shop boards and maps with "Qualify for..."
5. Schedulers who e-mail their "urgent needs" but do not offer reasonable fees.
6. Shoppers who are willing to take shops at below cost.
7. Grammatical errors on shop instructions and forms.
8. Stupid tests and quizzes. Thankfully, Maritz eliminated theirs but there are still others that have them.
9. Schedulers who do not filter their e-mail blasts. Really, if I am registered as being a particular sex or ethnicity why send me a message for a shop which requires someone other than me? If I am registered as, "I do not do shops which require X technology," why blast me about them? Just laziness.
10. Those who insist on putting an apostrophe in MSCs.
11. Posters who create redundant threads.
12. Posters who do not bother to read threads before adding comments.
13. Limiting top ten lists to ten.

2. Faulty equipment. My recently late GPS, which made me so late that I had to reschedule an assignment, could not find 'north'. It found 'south'. No matter how it was programmed, it went south. That is sort of funny, in a sic sort of way.

On the flip side, my scheduler permitted the reschedule and all is well.

3. Forgetting to give credit where credit is due.

Gardening is how I relax. It is another form of creating and playing with colors. - Oscar de la Renta
1) Email a scheduler all day with a question about a shop (crickets), then after the store is closed they finally reply just to ask, "Did you get the shop done?"
2) Editors who ask for things not in the guidelines, or for things I already wrote in the shop, or who don't tell you why they graded down....or who grade down because YOU called THEM with a question (contact was required...)
3) Pay or critical details (airport shop, scheduler contact info) not listed in the email.
4) Companies with no phone number listed anywhere.
5) Unclear, contradictory instructions.
5a) Poor grammar in the instructions.
6) Having to submit invoices for pay.
7) Shops I can't self-assign, that sit for days, then are scheduled the same day they're due, but take weeks to be edited and approved.
8) Canned email responses that don't answer my question and prove the scheduler can't be bothered to read.
9) Lower fee, more requirements.
9a) Calling/emailing me to beg me to accept a shop, then offer less than the fee listed on the board.
10) Threatening or berating me in big red type with lots of !!!!!!s, especially when I did nothing wrong, you just can't read.
11) Gigspot.
12) Cancelling half of my route after I am already on the road.
12a) Not assigning a route shop I requested a week in advance, but call me after I pass that location, beg me to take it, then give me a midnight deadline.

Asking a question from a scheduler, only to receive a response that merely quotes something directly from the instructions.

Sorry, just realized stormraven addressed this two threads down!

S'okay, it bears repeating! ;-)
1. Low-paying shops and $0 fee shops.
2. Shoppers who keep fees low by doing those low-paying and no-paying shops.
3. Technical failures on a video shop.
4. Store managers who whine to the MSC everytime they get a low score.
5. MSC who encourages false positive reports to appease those managers.
6. MSC who does not value or stand behind their shoppers.
7. MSC asks verification questions about a shop I did 2-3 weeks ago.
8. Having to do a re-shop (for free) because an employee screwed up and I did not catch it.
9. Having to do a free re-shop because I missed something simple (like starting the shop 5 minutes before I was supposed to).
10. Getting reports returned for edits at the most inopportune times.

Posters who come on this forum and respond and make comments and start threads, mostly derogatory, and do not actually add by talking about their shops and their experiences. Just a bunch of made-up idiomatic-expression types of comments that make my face itch. Worse, posters who are already on this forum who don't contribute to mystery shopping by talking about their shops and their experiences who respond positively to said new posters and their meaningless, non-contributory posts.

Emails from schedulers saying that they have shops in my area, but don't say what they are, and just give a login link.
Multiple, daily emails where there is only one shop available, in New York, and I live in Texas.

Hope it all got accepted.

Make sure you read every question in the report as well as all instructions.

I found many bank shop reports difficult. But the nice thing is your money is usually not tied up.

I definitely do not love when I submit my report and see questions about things I was not warned to check. Also, I do not love being asked for bank shop documents, as it is sometimes unclear which documents they want. However, week one is down so I am crossing my fingers that my answers were clear enough for them.
