Grocery Store Shop

I agree Spicy, if you ask they'd rather give it to someone else who will just do it for base pay. Remember we all need to eat and they pay fast. I didn't want to be a fighter (Haha), so ended discussion. My jobs are all within 3 miles which add up to $$...no gas or time involved. They also give me another three that I like, the upgrade ones, so, yes you can push them, they have shoppers that grab them. Gotta know when to ask and when to leave it alone.

Yes, there have been times where I thought "why not ask for $3 PAD and see what happens" and then someone else takes the shop for base pay. Once you ask for the PAD you don't have the option to change your mind a couple of days later and ask for it for the regular pay, so you're stuck...Irene, you are lucky yours are close by. Mine are a bit of a drive, though not too far, but the only ones I enjoy that I have to drive 15 miles or more for are the natural grocery store chain.

I am lucky, we have Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Krogers, all within 3/4 miles....krogers has 6 stores here, I don't always find TJ as their not shopped monthly, but I got spoiled and won't drive to eat, just won't make enough.
Can't can't do mine tomorrow, car is in the shop. another story!!!sad smiley

My life changed dramatically last June when my husband passed away very suddenly. About 90% of my groceries now come from the Kroger shops. Still searching for who shops TJ's. It's my favorite store and would love to be shopping there --- they have so many quality, convenenience items!!
Look closely and keep looking under your nose, it's only shopped every couple of months. I am sorry about your loss........

arkndove, I'm doing my first-ever grocery shop today, and it sounds like it's the same one. It's at the store I usually shop, so I'm not too frantic (yet). But I have NO idea what to ask for the generic sales-floor question. Their example doesn't sound natural (how to determine what's organic). Do you have any suggestions? Do you know if a general question about pricing is OK (the sales pricing can be confusing at this store)? I'm getting a bonus on this and I don't want to screw it up! TIA.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
I always ask the grocery "associate" where something is, and see if h/she walks me to it, makes conversation, etc. For instance "can you tell me if you carry a certain pot pie, or where is it located...has always worked.
Not sure if this is the same one I do....

On this one, you have to ask both a fairly generic question about items and a question about the location of a fairly specific item. The latter was easy, but the first one was kind of a head scratcher to come up with something that sounds natural, like something a normal customer would ask. At least to me it was; hopefully next time I'll be able to come up with something more easily!

You can always ask where the organic/fruit products come from. I always like to know if it's CA or Mexico, that's a question easily answered.

Anyone else notice that starting in 2018 the Kroger shop rotation has changed from shopping rotation from every 2 weeks to every 3 weeks? Kind of a bummer since I have been counting on making $100 a week to pay for all my groceries for a family of 4. I guess I will have to start going to HEB (my favorite grocery store!) on the off weeks to keep the essentials stocked.
No wonder I haven't seen my normal run of shops....also, I immediately tried to self-assign a newer restaurant that I hadn't seen before, and was unable to self-assign. When I wrote them, I was told they have flown off the board and I'm a second. Self-assigning was my in with them..they have changed other things as well, including doing the groceries, more to do now...sad smiley After several years doing monthly jobs (many), I'm not feeling the love.

I don’t do those any more but I created a spreadsheet template that I used for those shops while I shopped. I would stop on the next aisle and input the details. That way I could casually go by and get what I missed.
Hey! A spreadseet on my phone for the peeps interaction! Great idea, I'm going to try it. Have to switch things up and around every now and then so they will not suspect I am the shopper.
I set up a google voice account and text that number. Then when I'm ready to do the report, I can pull up google voice in a different tab and see all my texts and the timestamps. You can copy/paste from there also.
Yeah that question is not one of the options. What i would do is stand tgere looking really confused and ask if there is a gluten free section or way to tell if sonething is gluten free, do the same but with the other options. No one ever knew.

Off topic but let me tell you a crazy grocery shop of mine. All those depts you have to talk with people, no one speaks english! Order a sandwich online for pickup, received a voicemail from the store in spanish! Was lucky my mobile provider dictates in text any voicemails I receive so i could copy/paste to google translate.
