Post Office Box Dimensions

Good Morning All,

It has been awhile since I have done the post office shops. I have always used a box for my scenario, but this time I would like to use some sort of mailer as I think it would be a bit cheaper. Do the dimension guidelines also apply to a bubble mailer? I think the box dimensions are 12x12x12. The mailer I have is 11x15.

I use a 6x6x6 box. The 12x12x12 is the maximum size for the USPS shops. The Priority Mail rates are by weight, not by dimension under 12 inches so a 1-2 lb box will be the same price as a 1-2 lb mailer.

The main reason I like using a mailer is that I hate having to deal with packing tape. The nice thing about mailers is that you don't need tape. The problem is that it's tougher to find 1-2 lb stuff that fits in the mailer. So it's a tough choice.

I buy packing tape on my hazmat shops so I never run out. I use boxes turned inside out and taped back together for my shops so I can mail my regular box shops to further zones without going over reimbursement.

I buy packing tape on my hazmat shops too. I just don't like having to deal with using it.
On a related note, can you get reimbursed for packing tape? The only thing that I've seen reimbursement listed for (other than postage obviously) are boxes. Is other necessary stuff reimbursable too like tape, labels, mailers? Or should I just claim it as a business expense on my taxes?

I use the bags for most of my PO shops, the only ones that need measurements are the hazmat ones.

I'm trying to understand what you meant: if you do a hazmat shop and they don't take your package, you can buy packing tape for your purchase and it's reimbursed. Is that what you meant?

I've actually only had one package rejected in an approved shipper hazmat shop. They usually don't even ask me. So I have to get a new box or envelope for every shop. The only question asked in the reimbursement section is whether a box was purchased for the shop. No questions about tape, labels, or envelopes. Plus there's only room for one picture of a non-postage purchase. So if I buy a box and tape for the shop, how would I include both? Sorry, I'm very confused about this.
