Exxon Mobil site inspection shop

I’ve done mostly retail and restaurant mystery shops so far. I want to expand my shops to other areas so I signed up for a gas station mystery shop and site inspection at ExxonMobil. I am looking over the 39 pages of guidelines and feeling really overwhelmed. The mystery shop portion seems straightforward and typical but the site inspection is way over my head. Has anyone done this type of shop before?

Once you do 6 or 8 of then you can stop looking at the guidelines. They start off very hard but become very routine. Don't get discouraged.
You'll also quickly realize that they're not even close to being worth $11.50... or $13.00 or whatever the base pay is now.

I like these. You do have to do a few of them to get the hang of it though.

I have done a bunch of Exxons. It is probably my favorite of the gas station audits. However, it may take between 30 and 40 minutes depending on the size of the station and other factors. Like others posted above, you get used to it after you have done a few and they go more quickly.
These are not bad shops, and like others have said, once you get into a routine they are not difficult. If the station you signed up for is close by, take a drive through it before you do the shop and check it out while making note of what you read in the guidelines; then go back home, look at the guidelines ago and think about how you would answer each question, or even how you will go about your "inspection" of that question.
about to do my first one for 2018. i saw the thing about the decal on the front door, but is that really the only new photo requirement?
Dinzy, if you plan to do a number of these shops it is a good idea to set up a work sheet based on questions rather than flipping document pages or scrolling thru your ipad.

Jay, when you take the front door decal, or lack there of, be sure to include the window on the right. where it is supposed to be located. strangely enough, if it is there a photo is not needed. A photo is needed only if it is missing. Another new photo requirement is the pump skirt. I have used a regular pump pic and it was accepted but I take a separate photo of a pump from the number down showing the full skirt.
what?? pump skirt of every pump? that’s double the photos... it already takes long along to upload them all.

that really doesn’t even make sense. hey can see the pump skirt fine in the regular pump photos.
No. Just one pic of one pump skirt. It's another stupid request in a long line of stupid requests because you already have a pic of every single pump skirt, but whatever. The client wants what they want.

I don't see anything in the guidelines or attachments requiring an extra photo of the skirt. Sometimes I include a skirt photo, but sometimes I use just a picture of the pump. I've had no issues. The update does show skirt photos in the explanation, but I believe those are just for illustration.

If you're still finishing up Q4 locations, the question about the skirt won't be there. If you've moved on to P1/Q1, then it should be there.

That's correct. One picture of a skirt. I have been doing the P1 shops. It seems like a redundant request and photo but it is what they want. Fortunately it takes just a couple of seconds to snap the pic.
I am doing P1 shops. There is a question about the skirt, and a button to upload a photo showing the skirt, but nothing about requiring a close-up photo of the skirt or a new picture showing only the skirt.

Edit: Yes, it only takes a second, and I usually do take a separate picture of the skirt, but if I forget I don't worry about going back or cropping one of my other pictures. It's like the question about temporary signs on the PID. I usually take a separate picture showing the temporary signs because I take pride in my work. But if I happen to forget, I just reuse the picture of the entire PID with no problems.

did the exxon's disappear off of anyone else's job board today?

uh oh. hopefully they haven't suspended me, after getting sick of my incentive requests.
Probably someone else gobbled them up. Check further out.

they're back on the board now. they don't know why it happened, they're looking in to it.
Yeah, there was weirdness today. Every time I clicked on something, the site signed me out. After a few minutes it went back to normal.
is it just me, or do others find the reports a big pain now? we can't bypass any of the unnecessary photos, unlike before they changed the website, and now have to send duplicates of the same thing. it's just taking me forever to do these things.

Thanks, Hoju. I looked at the board and saw several that I thought I might add in to an existing route. Guess I'll fill in with something else.

I wish there was a way to eliminate the pump question for pumps that do not exist. Click, scroll, click , scoll. Sheesh. The yellow team report asks how many pumps, & then allots that many slots.
are you guys exxon’s on the board?
