I purchased a time share many many years ago, not as a shopper. I tried to cancel the purchase, they refused to honor the 3 day cancellation that was in writing. Make sure that the MSC guarantees the cancellation. Oh, they pull your credit.

thanks for the tips. per the shop overview, I am to give them a down payment, but change my mind on the spot. there is to be no income or credit check.

Be very careful, personally, this could turn into a hassle, those Agents are cut throat. I would not make a down payment, and which MSC is this for, if I may ask...I've never heard of this.

It's very good pay and 3.5 days vaca for about 6-7 hours of conference.
Did you have a lot of questions or was it strictly narrative? Just on the sales presentstion?

My husband and I went to a presentation a few years ago. We just wanted the weekend. We said no to the sales pitch and they held us hostage until we said yes. We ended up not buying, but it was tortorous.

Yeah, I've seen them. I have been to timeshare presentations before without it being a shop and it was a PITA. Not sure it's worth the money, at least for me, to do it as a shop. Not saying others wouldn't find value in it.
It pays $300 for travel, a good fee, plus the vaca. They're looking for adherence to legalities.
That is good money, but the requirements as in actually putting a down pymt. is still scary.

Just remember this isn't IN Disney.... nearby not on property. So you don't have access to magical express, or Disney transport.... (I actually own DVC and their 'sales pitch' is NOTHING like these time shares)
It would cost us a lot more than $300 to travel there and back.

About 6 years ago I went to Disney and got caught up in a DVC sales pitch. Those guys are GOOD. We ended up buying. Then, that night when we were back at our room, we realized that we had absolutely no desire to vacation at a very limited number of Disney properties for the rest of our life (or trade in through RCI) and rescinded. They were totally fine about it.

I have connections on the airfare. I will basically just pay tax on our 2 tickets. If not for this huge discount, I would probably not go. I also have connections for another hotel if we wanted to extend the stay elsewhere.

Over the years I've done a variety of presentations, and I've never been able to predict which would be the toughest sell. Some were terrific, and I was truthful and got out of there easily. Other times I've felt as if I was a hostage. The down payment part would have me passing on this.

We adore Disney.... and the number of RCI locations is HUGE but I don't know if we will ever even use that... between Hawaii, California, Hilton Head, cruises, and Europe we will stay busy for years.... right now I'm working on a 'bucket list' of every Disney World resort (minus the crap value resorts like Pop Century)
We've been mulling over Marriott Vacation Club. Way more properties in way more locations. What you lose is that Disney charm and service.

Hey Lucky, I've had some magical moments at some of the values. On the other hand, I did not enjoy the Caribbean or the Coronado Springs. GF and POR are still my favs. Try 'em all!

Please don't take this the wrong way but Caribean & Coronado ARE value..... I wouldn't stay there..... Our home resort is Saratoga Springs. We just got back from Animal Kingdom Lodge (split stay between Jambo house & Kadini village)... I have stayed at Poly, Bay Lake Towers(Contempory), and Port Orleans. Next year we are knocking off Grand Flordian from the 'bucket list'.
Sorry. I said "Disney" but I think it is Orlando/Kissimmee area. It sounds like on the property. My understanding is the down payment is voided the SAME day BEFORE we leave. Reimbursements would come a few weeks later. I have requested a blank form from the scheduler which I am still waiting on, so I will know what to expect.

Disney classifies Caribbean and Coronado as 'moderates' As a person who frequents the resorts, you know they have values, moderates and deluxe accommodations. I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed the Fort Wilderness cabins and the grounds. You never know where you'll find the magic!
Still, I encourage you to continue trying them all. Looks like you are due for a Beach Club visit, it's fun with the Epcot access.

Find out the name of the place. Orlando has some seedy spots, and some nice ones. Bonnet Creek?

I'm signed up for one next month. It's my first timeshare shop so I'm trolling the boards for tips! Thankful for all the great information veteran shoppers have given. They have made my mystery shopping experiences go more smoothly!
Last time I went to a timeshare presentation (not a shop), I took my sister, her family and my girlfriend. The presentation was signed up was me, who was single and not married or in a legally defined 'domestic partnership.' We were provided us with a 3 day, 2 night stay at an OK hotel in the ski resort for free, in exchange for their sales pitch for a time share..... Welllllll, the morning of our checkout, I went to the presentation. I went in my sweats and PJ's. I turned out to be the youngest lad there and by myself, while the others in the room had their spouses lol. I treated myself to a nice latte from their fancy coffee machine. When it was my turn for the salesman, he took one look at me, walked me to the smallest timeshare available and flat out asked, "Are you interested or no?" I stated, "No," then he walked me out. In and out of the presentation in 10 minutes.... Not bad for a free weekend getaway at a nice ski town. I would gladly go to another one of these time share presentations again, whenever I get a chance!
Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.
I have done about 10 timeshare shops. Nine shops were just to listen and decline; some were day drive, some 2 nights and one was for 7 nights in a major city. Those were fine even with a couple of super aggressive sales agents.
I did two other timeshares for another MSC and they put my name in the system as an owner of the sales agent to upgrade me to a higher level and I was to decline. One of the managers got very nasty and insisted we sign and initial all types of forms. I would not do that one again and definitely NOT one which I would buy and cancel.

Curious! How did everything go with the down deposit for this shop? The original poster, give us an update!
I did this same shop in a different location a couple of months ago. I wrote a check for the down payment and requested it back before I left, so there was NO issue with that. Also you do have to fill out the credit form, but the guidelines state you can use a fake SSN, which I did, so even if they did try to run credit check, they couldn't. There was no issue there. Do expect it to take a LONG time. I think it was between 5-6 hours, then writing the report. The report wasn't too bad. I did a resort that I was able to drive to in a few hours, but far enough that I maxed out the travel cost, so it actually was a good paying shop. I think you can do this shop twice, at least 6 months apart, and I would do it again at a different resort.
I wonder if you could use a check that you had previously put a stop payment on if you were nervous about it.

The scheduler posted for a January so i reached out to the group to get more information. I inquired with her regarding upcoming shops in march. I requested a sample form to review but have yet to receive. I am nervous, but not nervous about the downpayment, so still on the fence in that regard.
