Slow Month?

I've noticed that I've seen a lot fewer jobs posted on Jobslinger this month. I've been mystery shopping for less than a year; is January typically a slow month for jobs?

I haven't ever shopped in January either (I've only been doing this for about 6 months) but I haven't found January to be slow in my area. I was afraid it might be, but I am about $39 away from my first 1k month and I am pretty excited about it!
I have been really busy, hardly have time to come here to read.
I have plenty of time to come here and read/post, but I also have had no shortage of shops. Been doing this about 16 years though and am signed up with 100 or so companies. I don't use jobslinger, as I do shops for other companies that use different platforms as well.
So many of my shops are no longer around. BWW was one of my favs, grocery shops...gone, tired of Blaze and the report takes forever. Have not seen Five Guys in my area. Really have slowed down here, but kinda nice not having deadlines and stuff. I really miss my grocery shops. Made me go buy food, LOL.
I made my goal of $600 for one MSC to issue me a 1099 in 2019 for 2018 earnings.
I could've worked more had I found reasonable hotel prices on my route that takes dog.

Busy month for me. I am already getting my calendar filled for February too. :-)
can you share what other platforms you use?
I have had several really good bonused shops this month. Two that were $50 and originally only paid $14 and took me 20 minutes! Ive seeing a lot more than I did in December this month. I don't use jobslinger though, I go through and check each MSC's site or go through email.
I just do phone shops and I was busy this month. Next month could be slow though.
bree, if you like phone shops and that's all you do, have you considered editing or scheduling? You write well, if you feel like you would be a good fit, I know that ACL is looking.
I have thought about editing before but I really liked the flexibility of doing shops. I can do a shop then fill in the report later in the day. I have to have an operation next month, then I am hoping I can get back to doing onsite shops. Thanks for the tip though.
Hi Chris,

For me, there is no typical. I try and schedule the larger paying jobs in the beginning of the month to leave my dates open for bonused-assignments at the end of the month.

There has been a shift in some of the big box companies which may have changed the forecasting for some shoppers. This may be what you are seeing with less on jobslinger.

Use the down time to sign up with new companies. Good luck!

It's been a good month for me... I've spent a lot less time shopping this month than normal, but earning above my average.... Three MSC's found me this month and had some very good work available. smiling smiley

While job boards are great in the beginning when you are building your business, if you read posts from veteran shoppers you will find most of us don't rely on them at all. Down time is ideal for registering with new companies, lots of new companies. Spread out from Jobslinger and visit MSJobBoard.com and even iSecretShop to find new companies. Look over the list at the bottom of every page and read what other shoppers have to say about MSCs. It takes time, but consider it the sweat equity to build your business.
