My biggest screw up was at the airport. I had to go in through security. I forgot to get a sales slip for a muffin. This was a small airport carrier, one entrance one exit. I realized within a short period of time. I went back in and had the kid look through the waste basket for my slip. Lucky for me it was on the top.
I paid both cash and CC on a bar audit when I should have paid all in cash....I paid cash for two drinks and CC
for appetizer, Instructions had changed, (I have done this restaurant every month for a few years). Editor called and talked about "my error", and I was sure I wouldn't be paid. She called client and they accepted job due to my my conscientious record. They said i will get paid and am able to do job again next month, already have got the email. The other bump in the road was the bartender saw I didn't care for the beer, and insisted on taking it off the bill.....it was also straightened out. we used to order house drinks, this time we had to order both beer and wine, which I don't like. Trust me, this won't happen again.

Live consciously....
I shopped the wrong location once, and another time I shopped a location in the wrong time period. I didn't get paid for either one, of course (nor did I expect to get paid). I rescheduled both shops and did them correctly.
Last month on a parking job (not for Servimer), there was a lot of stuff happening as my vehicle was returned, the claim check was being electronically read and I was tendering cash, and I neglected to get a receipt. Even though I had pictures of the front and back of the claim check (Which meant that the client could easily have checked the records and seen that my payment was recorded when the check was swiped on a handheld device) I was not paid or reimbursed. $52 mistakes happen, even to long time shoppers. But, most MSCs that do parking shops would have made arrangements to get me paid and reimbursed. Not that one!

Ouch, wales, that's an expensive mistake. And it made me remember that I also forgot to take photos of food a couple of times (mentioned in another thread) and had to rescheduled one shop and the other one I had to order a second food item because I realized my error during the shop. Less costly than $52, though, that's for sure.
Frankly, the MSC and the client had a record of the payment in the client's automated system, so I am a bit ticked off that they would not pay and reimburse. I saw the claim check scan and head the little "beep" that told the attendant (am me) that it had registered the transaction.

$52 for parking?! WHY!!!!!

I used to do a weekly Aldi's audit for $16, sometimes bonused. The reimbursement was $1. One day, I could not find my receipt anywhere. I went back to the store and had them pull the receipt for 2 packs of chili powder: a whopping $0.98.

I can't imagine what I would have done for $52.

Another time, I paid cash for my convenience store / gas station shop. I paid cash for the convenience store portion and I forgot the receipt. I went back 20 minutes later, and the clerk could not fine the receipt in the system. She could have found the receipt had she not pocketed the money. I found a way to be objective in my report, but it was still rejected.

Just remembered (tried to forget), I did the famous Jack in the box, and never having been there, and having one on every block, I shopped the wrong location..I only took it because it paid 15.00 for a 4.50 Jr. burger. This was my fault and I didn't get paid, but got to do more...yippee. Things happen to long time shoppers, why, because we're human.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Even Marketforce has paid me a couple of times when I for some reason didn't have the receipt, and other MSCs that I had a good built-up relationship with paid me out of good faith without a receipt. That stinks (and stings).

She was probably parked for a prolonged period doing shops in the area on foot.

Living in a big city parking is very expensive. A lost ticket shop can be $35-40 here. Valet parking in an expensive hotel where you pay the valet something plus the hourly rate at $3.50 or more for each 12 minutes can really add up. About thirty years ago I won a free brunch in a 4* hotel. My parking fee at the cheapest parking that hotel had was over $20. I remember thinking between the tip I left and the parking I could have had a very nice brunch at somewhere closer to home without the hassle...esp in 1990 prices.
My regular parking job msc would certainly have reimbursed. Sorry that happened to you Wales. I know you are very conscientious.
I have shopped the wrong appliance. I did not get paid for that. I wasn't out any money though.
I was a $1 short on the amount I needed to spend for some gourmet chocolates. I literally got to “eat” my mistake!

Susie shopping the Columbus Ohio area and outlying communities.
Both were parking related: 1. Parking shop. A mall and a hotel attached to the mall both have valet parking. Different companies and maybe 30 yards away from each other. Did what I thought was the valet evaluation. Realized my error a short time later and. Had to re-do it, eating the $8 mistake. Luckily the wrong one was the cheaper of the two. 2. A round of shops where you drive to the airport and park in a few different garages. But some attendants don't give you receipts, you have to take pics of the ticket before cashing out. I think I missed 2 of the 7 and had to re-do them. I never took this assignment again. If I did it again I'd probably get the hang of it but I'm not interested in spending half of my day driving in and out of parking garages.
Honney,
$25 parking fee + $2 tip + $25 MS fee, down the drain. Park fee of $52 only in NYC, lol. This was DC hotel valet.

hotsauce,
You may have been doing some low fee parking jobs that do not focus on cash integrity. . The good cash integrity MSCs have much better pay! But, yes, "no ticket pix, no pay," regardless of the MSC. The way to really benefit from parking shops is to build a route of walkable shops, one for each of the day's parking locations. Park vehicle, walk to retail shop, make $20-$75; return to vehicle, make $20-$60 for the parking shop, move to next garage. The higher fees reflect video shops and the lower ones non-video for a major city. The one I really loved was walking to a $200 center city bank shops for $200 while having parking reimbursed and a $25 fee from a different MSC.

JAS,
I was parked for 25 minutes for that $25 parking charge. Hotel valet parking in a big city is like that.

Did a gas station shop where you had to buy a specific item and wait for the clerk to suggest the sales item, like 2/$2.. Got the wrong item. Luckily, I didn't pull away from location and quickly purchase the right item. Another time, when I did the Ross shops, there are two Ross stores within a five minute drive from each other. Was assigned both. Went to wrong location and submitted the report based on the location I was assigned and vice versa..Luckily, scheduler asked me to correct my reports and was paid.
I forgot to ask a knowledge question on one shop. On another, I forgot to get the associate's name. Not particularly embarrassing mistakes, but mistakes nonetheless.

I just want to thank the shoppers who recognize their mistakes and offer to reshop! You're the good ones! smiling smiley

When you wrote $52, I wasn't thinking about fee + reimbursement, I was thinking that you were out $52 in reimbursement which seemed like a lot of money to park.

Which brings to mind: I did a lot of shops for the now defunct NSS, and those shops that I didn't get paid for (in excess of $700) had high bonuses attached. Now that it's tax time, I am wondering if I can only claim the amount I am out reimbursement-wise, or if I am allowed to take additional compensation for mileage and/or promised bonus fees. I am guessing it's only reimbursement and possibly mileage that I can claim as a loss. I like to do my own taxes in general, but this year I might have to consult a pro.

So, there's a screw up in a pretty major way. Be careful who you are shopping for. I would have never guessed that I would have gotten screwed by this company and it was a weird circumstance since the owner didn't just abscond with the money and had killed himself instead, leaving his employees in a bind as well. Bad situation all the way around.

Since we don't know what shop you were doing, that's hard to say. You should email your scheduler for clarification.

Same thing happened for me today but i ordered mocktail is that ok.
Unpaid fees are not a "loss" just not income. But unpaid reimbursements should be claimed as a cost and I think claiming the mileage for those shops is right.

I did a fast food chinese shop and took the requisite photo of the food tray. I completely forgot the 'Side' item for a photo. Oh well, Hubs and I enjoyed our date for lunch!
Oh, wildherbs, another shopper posted that they took a photo of the entree and another photo of the side item, and the shop was rejected because both items were not in the same photo...just thought I would let you know for future shops!
