Some shops are just not worth doing

I'd go so far as to say that MOST shops aren't worth doing. Like a VERY high percentage.

I now stick to companies and shops I've done many times over and where the reports are quick and simple. They add up.
Most of us end up settling in with a few companies as our bread and butter and we dabble here and there, I think.

Yep you have to figure out what shops are worth it to you and stick with those. Unfortunately, this usually has to be done the hard way. For new shoppers, if they come on here, they can get an idea of which shops to avoid, but often they have to try it for themselves. I know when I first started back doing this I did just about every Intelli-Shop shop I could qualify for and was pretty close to me. I've since learned there are much better options even for the same type of shop. It's hard to learn by other people's mistakes.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
I saw a bank shop where there are two evaluations, the teller and a Banker...all for 10.00, please....hardy worth the time to drive there.

I had some shops a few years ago where I was paid $20 to survey people coming out of a store. The survey questionnaire had about 25 questions, some need essay type replies. One question said..."Think back over the last 2 years on your purchases, what did you......" You are asking people who are busy doing things to answer 25 questions. Some people just walked away after I asked 5 questions. I told the company this and explained to them they really needed to just ask about 10 yes or no questions. People are getting mad at this survey and walking away. The company refused to change. From than on, doing the survey I would ask people "Would you like to take a 25 question survey?" Everyone said "NO" and walked away. I got paid anyway and only had to report no one took the survey. LOL Easy $20.

Yes, I'll go in to a Dillard's and evaluate two separate, targeted, high-end cosmetic associates for $8 each, no purchase, so no reimbursement and no asking for free product and no free facial or make-over. Making sure one associate does not notice my interaction with the other associate, even though their booth areas are 12 feet apart in what is a dead store. Sure, no problem. Let me just drop one of my $40 or $60 food service shops or one of my $85 bank shops so I can accommodate this shop! No problemo, I'll get right on it. Oh, you won't be offering a bonus for this shop. No problem. I'll do it because Easter is almost here and I'm feeling generous. Oh, crap, that's right, Easter is also April Fools day.
There is one shop that I never want to visit again as long as I shall live. Nothing wrong with the location. The fact that the employee I need to evaluate doesn't exist and regularly doesn't exist; gives me pause. I luck out with the other employees, but honestly...there are days.

My response to the company's last e-mail: I had the shop timed. I though I had made a mistake on when I started the shop. It would have made things easier if they shop was sent back to me to review where the problem was. I was only told it was at the beginning. I was told it was off by 29 minutes. I thought they meant the start time. That is what I corrected. If the start time wasn't the issue, I should have been told that. I made one mistake and told they wouldn't accept the shop. I tried to correct it, and was told because I didn't get it right in the beginning, my shop was rejected.
I'm the one putting in the effort for a shop that really doesn't pay enough to be worth it. They could have simply sent the report back to me and pointed out the problem area.
This is the only shop I've ever done that looks at everything down to the second. They really need to change that. Keep it at the minute level. There is no reason to have this kind of shop down to the second. It's a pizza shop, not a Nuclear Fusion shop.

Actually most fast casual and fast food shops are down to the second. This shop isn't for everyone.

You're joking, right?
They want you to note the time, (Hour, min, and sec) as you went through each stage of your pizza being made. Than they want the minutes and seconds of the time through each stage. If you miss the math on any part, your shop is not accepted. Not worth it for the time and effort for a pizza.
I agree this shop isn't for everyone. I just don't think it's worth my time and effort. I can make more on shorter shops with less paperwork.

I'll do online or phone shops for $10, but that's not enough money for me to put pants on and leave the house 
I noticed a new audit posted yesterday...plan on spending 60-90 minutes in the store then complete the paperwork when you get home. $10. I would pay $10 to not have to do the audit!
Some jobs are simply insulting for how little they pay and the amount of work required.
This is why I'm looking for other work. Many shops are just insulting, what they require and what they pay.

Its the AT&T, same ss Cricket, 15-25 in store and do audit on tablet while you're there. Let the price go up.
I have only been mystery shopping for about two months and already pass over a lot of shops because of the pay. This is a sideline gig for me to earn some fun money to splurge on extra craft supplies or something indulgent. I have already stopped doing grocery shops, the reports are too long and you have to ask a lot of silly questions that surely give you away as a mystery shopper. Some of the lunch spots I pass on because they ask for far too many times and the reports are excessively long.
None of the shops pay enough for anyone who is trying to make a living particularly when you consider what you will pay in taxes at the end of the year. My opinion is that mystery shopping is a good way to have a few free meals and to pick up some extra spending money without being tied down to a 9 to 5 job.

I got a two calls yesterday (from the same MSC) to do a burger shop. They wanted to pay $10, plus the meal. I've done many shops for this place for them. I asked for $12. They never called back. I guess they really didn't need the shop done. I was only asking for $2 more.
That pizza one is REALLY not worth it. That pizza line moves as a snail anyway.
I just did a shop for 8.25 totally worth doing, next to Trader Joe's which is 6 blks. from my home, and took a few minutes with report 10 minutes and I learned about something I will be buying later. So how they ask 10.00 for a job wirth 25.00, how low can the clint or MSC go is the question. .sometimes we are better off with the easier jobs that everyone tells you not to take....

True, but some are worth it; especially the ones where my time is not eaten up in narrative.

YEP, after doing my 8.25 shop, I ran into Trader Joe's (2 doors down) and spend the 8.00 on a great filet mignon.
