Receipt Disaster-Averted!
Glad that worked out. Makes me think I need to snap several photos of my receipts immediately after making a purchase.
I attach a heavy duty clip to any receipt that is in my vehicle. That not only weights it down but also marks it as "not just trash."

I'm so happy you were able to get your receipt and not fall over the cliff.
If I forget/destroy/lose a receipt, I go back to the store (or call them) for a copy.

The account of what OP did to get the receipt made me think of the "fictional narrative" in the Chat section, and the receipt scenario in that story! OP's account would have fit right in with that story!!
My shopping system includes putting my homemade one-page report summary (with a paper clip on it) into my purse, then attaching the receipt to the page as soon as possible after I leave the cash register area.

I understand and can relate...One nice spring day I had the one receipt I needed fly out of a folder it was tucked into when I had the roof down on my convertible. (I know, a bit dangerous to start with, but it was tucked in a slash folder inside a tote bag.) How the only item that blew away was that one receipt is beyond me. I drove around that dang highway at least 3 times, waiting in traffic each time at a detour, thinking I saw it on the side of the road..(busy highway), before I returned to get another receipt..redo.

I had a post office receipt fly up, up, and away on a windy day last Spring. It actually came down almost within grabbing range before another gust of wind whisked it away over the roof of the building. I looked on every side of the building without luck. It was just like watching a $20 bill float away...lol!

Last night as I was sitting down to input a report I noticed my little pup running out of the room with something white in her mouth. It was the receipt for my report. Luckily, I had taken a picture before dropping it on the floor.

Great story!!!! I always snap pics as soon as I get in the car.
(I always attach mine to a paper clip too) I remember one time at a Drive In the car hop crumpled my receipt in her hand and said, "You don't need this, right?" I shouted, "YES. I do!"
