Invited back by the restaurant

Hi, I did a lunch evaluation at Capital Grille. The service was not stellar. The MSC asked my permission to give my contact into to the client. The managing partner at Capital Grille invited me to return as his/her guest. I replied that I like to come back for dinner and I am also available for lunch if preferred. They replied asked what day I want to come for dinner. I requested a dinner reservation for tonight.

Only problem is that you will probably never be able to mystery shop that location again.

This does sound very strange. I would think this would definitely out you for future shops at least at that location. But if so the damage is already done so you may as well have a good dinner. You might try to speak with your scheduler first though about the situation.
I would tell my scheduler, sounds risky, they may not want you to do it. I think I'd politely refuse in order not to make waves.

Live consciously....
I think there is too much secret society conspiracy going on here. I think the client was embarrassed and wants to make it right to the shopper. I agree the shopper could probably never shop this location again but I bet tonight the shopper will have the best meal and best service of their life. I say go enjoy you are off the clock. Your bonus for being a stellar shopper.
I will enjoy the dinner and I will not have to pay attention to detail to write a report. The rotation for this client is probably six months so I am not too worried about future opportunity or lack thereof.
If you have been outed then a rotation most likely doesn't apply. Outed usually means you can't be a shopper at that location anymore.
It's a trap. They will photograph you secretly and pass your face around to every Capital Grille location. Ask that a gift card be mailed to you instead.

Is there a budget? smiling smiley Get the most expensive steak and a bottle to go with it!

Oh and the sides... the $12 sides... why...
If the managing partner is the one who invited the OP, it is probably not an issue that he knows the OP is the shopper. The managing partner is likely the one who has ordered the mystery shops (or one of the management team which has ordered it). The staff at the restaurant, including the restaurant general manager, are the ones to whom the OP should not want to be outed. I would go and enjoy it, but I would do nothing to make myself memorable.....anything that would tip off the staff. Simply getting a free meal after getting bad service will not identify the OP as a mystery shopper. I have had bad service at two restaurants within the last 12 months which were NOT shops In both cases, I posted a negative social media review and was contacted by higher management and given a free meal which I accepted. It is not that unusual for a restaurant's owners/partners to offer free meals to those who have complained about service. The staff is likely used to it.
I had a fantastic dinner experience. I enjoyed a $55 shell fish cold platter with lobster, shrimp and oysters for appetizer. Two steak meals with two sides. Two cocktails and two glasses of wine with the dinner. And great dessert with two coffee drinks for dessert. Great service. Well worth it. No report to write after. And no expense limit. It is good to get a reward once in a while.

That is such good news!! I am very happy for you!!
Wow! This is the first I have heard that a MSC was asked to share your information with a client. What a wonderful report free experience for you!
Ok the same thing just happened to me albeit not for the same client. Wish it was Capital Grille!
Amber, I have read about 6 of your recent posts and you are always yelling in caps. Please, please stop.

This happened to me to, so I know exactly what you are talking about. I agree you should wait a while before shopping again. You probably should use a different phone number and name altogether before doing it again. I went on the invite back and had a blast.

I have done reveal shops at a finer dining restaurant 3 times and each time they had no clue who I was twice they did it all right and I took a picture of the manager and waiter the third time they failed.

These places see a lot of people and have a high turnover rate so each time I did not see anyone from the previous time. I went back and looked at the pictures I took to see who may have seen me before.
