Has anyone seen the Halloween shop scenerio?

It's truly scary. (No pun intended). You are supposed to try to get a manager to sell you a $15 item by waving a $10 bill in front of his face, and more. Creepy to say the least. Not for me.

Try the other part of the scenario, Drop a $20 on the counter and wave goodbye. If mall security sees that, you will get an opportunity to speak to the man behind the star and I do not mean from Texaco gasoline. At the mall near me they require all transactions to have a register generated sales receipt.

I emailed the scheduler about this requirement, and she said that I was basically an amatuer shopper. I guess I would rather not risk getting work versus loosing $20.00 cash and possibly getting cited for shop lifting or attempted petty theft.

Either way, I just keep hitting the delete button when I get the " I need help" and "Limited time" emails.

Is any one willing to admit that they did one of these shops?
The shops here are not in malls, but yes, I still find them creepy! And very low-paying for what is expected. The scenario is pretty bizarre, and the second half is especially uncomfortable and distasteful. IMO, there are better ways to test integrity than to bait someone. I think this is taking it way too far, and I bet someone gets trapped.
I suspect that the point of the shop is not really to 'bait' any staff into stealing, but rather to perform the shop quickly when the stores open and leave a copy hanging in the back office.

That helps to ensure that any rogue cash laying around will be suspect and quickly rung. The staff at these stores are short-term seasonal employees, so there's really very little benefit in shopping them from a customer service point of view, since there's no potential for ongoing training.

That said, I find them distasteful and not even mystery shopping as far as I'm concerned. It's loss prevention.
The mall cops can't get you for shoplifting on these, because if the manager complies, he/she isn't going to call the mall cops on you (unless you're being forceful, which isn't part of the scenario).
I've done one before, and I'm not going to lie, I felt kind of silly, but it wasn't a bad experience. Worst case scenario, the person says no and looks at you funny. You go home and complete your report and get paid anyway. A shop is a shop.
Sorry, but here it is in the mall lease to REQUIRE cash register generated receipts for all transactions. Further the mall cops here are city police officers working in uniform as a second job. The lease empowers the "Mall Cops"with these requirements. I have a lease in the mall for another business. Basically, this mall makes the City Police their loss pervention staff. I was trying to not point out this specific mall before.

Maybe in your area, there is no mall requirement for receipts, but here the store has to play by the rules. FYI, if you have a mystery shop program in this mall that involves loss prevention, you have to register with the city and get a city license,
I was looking but not for me....the temptation for the poor employee isn't fair (in my humble opinion). Would you pick up a $10.00 bill on the ground, I say yes, not a fair evaluation, more like a tease. I do integrity shops, these are below the belt.

Live consciously....
