Have you been "suggested" to fill out your survey one way?

Hey guys, I've been working with several companies for several months, with one with whom I've started working very ecently I got asked if I wanted to do an assignment where the pay was quite good and the effort was little; anyways, I felt that my contact was putting a lot of emphasis on some aspects of the survey, as if suggesting a type of answer... I think I'm not very good at getting those clues, but later on it made some sense... I felt weird because I think they just wanted the surveys ASAP and probably wouldn't have cared what I had done as long as I wrote down what they told me to and send them on their way... I didn't budge, but I felt that the contact was really dissappointed that I didn't follow through with what he wanted LOL. Has this ever happened to you? What have you done? Even though the money was very good, I didn't feel well lying on my report, even if my boss was the company asking me to do that... any thoughts?

Your story’s a bit too cryptic. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.
I think I understand what you are trying to say. The scheduler wanted you to lie on the report because they needed it ASAP? Is that correct?
Yes, it's my first time on a public forum of shoppers and I'm not an extremely experienced shopper and I didn't want to say it that clear, but yeah, that's correct tongue sticking out smiley

aldoman, you didn't name the MSC or the client, I think you'll be okay.
This hasn't happened to me, I think it rare.....

You're fine, I understand why you wanted to be vague but you didn't break any rules. I personally try to be as ethical as I can. I'm not going to lie just to make their job easier. Our purpose is to show companies what is really happening out there, not lie for a MSC company.
My husband was TOLD one time to say a gas station was closed when THEIR definition of closed clearly said, 'If you say the location is closed, you are saying that both the store AND the PUMPS were not operable." Well, the pumps WERE operable AND he got a receipt to show that he had gotten gas; the interior/store was closed. I think they just did not want to reimburse him for the gas. Anyway, against his better judgment, he did say it was closed. He got the fee for a closed station (the full amount of the shop - probably $20 or more) but no reimbursement for the gas he bought (probably just $3). I had done the same location, both when the store and pumps were completely open and also when just the gas pumps were operable, several times and gotten paid (and reimbursed for the gas) for an open shop. This was probably in 2008 or 09 for a company that has since merged with another company. I highly doubt that editor still works for that company, but she may have moved elsewhere.
I think we've all been nudged. I was nudged recently for an assisted living site. I was asked to accept a lunch invitation because the last shopper really messed up. It was explained to me that the shopper ran out of the place and made negative statements about the food when he had not eaten it. The scheduler went on to explain this company is very proud of their food, and would I please have the meal during the tour. The scheduler made some comment about the shopper made them look bad.

Message received about how the report was expected about the food. The food WAS really good, so no fudging necessary but my goodness the visit was long because of that meal.

Evaluating and mailing packages since 1994. I am an undercover connoisseur of customer service, a master of disguise in the aisles, and a sworn enemy of subpar experiences. I blend in, observe, and report—because excellence should never be a mystery.
There was a shop that I forgot to finish which ended up being "completed and received" and I also got paid...which is all sorts of flags if you ask me. Makes me wonder what MSC's do in order to retain a client.
I had these phone service shops last year and I had to wait for their appointment reminder call after making the initial call. First, the scheduler gives me 7 for a day. I complete them all and save the report for later. I check back and see all of them have been submitted without the follow up section completed. I had to wait for 72 hours and I freaked out. I thought maybe I made an error and submitted them. I emailed the scheduler and she did not reply. Anyways, I got a score of 10 on all. But it made me wonder if they were in a hurry to get the report to the client and didn't care about the follow up.
I had a shop that was probably the best meal service wise that I have ever had. I gave them all 10's and explained the little extra's that they did to make the dinner special. I have worked in restaurants and know how hard they work but do not feel that I am overly biased for the server, if anything I am a little more critical because I know how they should do things. The editor sent me an email saying that I scored too high and needed to lower the scores. It was my second shop for this company and I changed one of the 10's to a nine. The report was sent back to me again. I felt horrible lowering the score again because I really felt the server was excellent and should be recognized for it but the editor would not pass the report until I gave at least two 9's.
I've never had this happen to me... If a company wants to change my report after I submit it and I'm paid, that's their business. However, if they want me to skew the facts, I'm not going to work for them. My word is everything in this business and I'm not going to sell it for any one MSC or report.

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
Some companies want us to be very strict and honest, and there are others that just want to give their clients "good" reports.
