How did VideoPros get email addresses?

I have been chatting with several forum member who got emails from Jeff at VideoPros about a discounted rate for that conference. They were trying to figure out what the source for their emal addresses was. So, we expanded the circle of friends to see who else had gotten the same email. The list of places where video pros might have gotten all of the emails is long but the could NOT all have come from ACL, EliteCX, IMSC or MSPA as far as we can tell. We do not think the list came from Grayhawk.. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you all video shop? Is it possible he asked the video shopping companies for the email addresses?
The video shopping MSCs mostly would decline because they value privacy. However, Elite was on the iist because they appear to be partnering with VideoPros and one of the principals used to be at ACL, where all of us are registered. At least two of us have never video shopped or registered with a major video MSC.. At least one has never been to an IMSC conference. Etc, etc. We used similar processes of elimination to narrow down the field. 'Tis a puzzlement!

Do you all hide your email address on this site? Otherwise, it's not hidden, right!? Maybe all belong to the same Facebook page?
Nope, not FB, for sure. None of us has an email addy showing here.

Hmmm. Well, I know that MF says that they share our information. I've seen my info on salesforce and MF shares with them. I haven't figured out how to opt out of that yet.
Have you tried just asking Jeff at VideoPros where he got your contact info?
Since he apparently could not have gotten all of the people's contact info a source that had gotten permission from everyone, that seems to be a waste of effort, even if he responded.

ETA He and his partners for VideoPros all monitor the forum and have not seen fit to comment on this or other similar discussions.

Greyhawk NEVER provides a shopper’s information, period. Not with anyone. Video Shopping Pros is a partner. We work together to put on Videocon. We really hope there will be support to bring video shopping into it’s own corner. That is all we have ever tried to do. Honestly, shopper email lists are floating everywhere. I have always received a list of shoppers from every conference I sponsered. I could put a GIANT email list together from a combination of my conference lists. For the record, I have not. Greyhawk uses your contact info ONLY to talk with you about your order.

Having said that, I am puzzled why there is this big question. Videocon is about trying to get people into video shopping. That is where the money is for the shopper. We may have a clumsy approach at times, but that is where our heart is. Videocon is about the shopper PERIOD. Just so you know, we are the only conference that actually loses money. We care about the shopper. We have a great sponsor base, but what they don’t cover, we will.
You might ask why. For me, I had cancer twice and short video routes allowed me to work when I could. There are people out there just like me. I took on a roll with License and Enforcement for the State of NC for 30 years. I have full retirement. I do this to help new shoppers and if we do make a profit, it goes to feed my kids in El Salvador. All this nasty “war” has sucked the joy out if it for me and a lot of people. For the record again, my company has responded openly to what has been done against us in the dark. Business wise, we should have ignored it. But how long do you let it go? My whole life, I have been willing to take a personal hit to deal with a passive aggressive bully. Its not business smart, but I sleep better. If I can respond and don’t, what about the people that think they don’t have a voice?

Greyhawk appreciates your business. We will always make sure you have what you need.

Kind Regards

Dan, I never said that you had supplied the email addresses. As I stated, folks who have never video shopped and are not on any IMSC-related list (which would include the ones that you have from when you were a sponsor) But people who Jeff would not have on his list are getting his emails. By elimination, that left you out of the running as the source of the list. You have not been attacked here or anywhere else by me.

Edited to add: Hello Jeff406 from Video Pros.

Since you are here, why not let us know the source of the email list? There are a whole bunch of forum members whose email addresses you seem to have but which they never authorized anyone to share with anyone except other MSCs.

I put the info out there because there was a question. No attack inferred.
All good information. It would be nice if Jeff Crozier would reveal exactly where he got the email addresses.

I got an email from Jeff Crozier (IMS247@verizon.net). I have never expressed interest in video shopping, am not registered with IMSC or MSPA, and, while I don't have a problem with any of the MSCs I am signed up with sharing my email address with other MSCs for the purpose of giving me more opportunities, I think if Jeff is going to cold-contact mystery shoppers to sell video training, he should be providing the name of the person(s) who referred the shoppers. His email did not reveal his referral source and I found it unprofessional for that reason.
I think that the Russians sold the email addresses to them.
I attended VideoCon last year so I never questioned why I received the email. I for one appreciate Greyhawk. I'm not sure what this war is all about, but Dan was very helpful when I was looking to get into video shopping.

COM, no one was accusing Dan of anything. As far as anyone can tell Jeff/VideoCon is not an MSC. When we allow MSCs to share our contact information to expand our opportunities, we mean share with other MSCs. Several people are concerned that their info was shared in a manner outside of that control. Since Jeff and Dan have rightful access to my contact info, from various conferences and other contacts, I am simply trying to facilitate getting the concerns of other forum members out on the forum. This is not a war, just an inquiry about a subject that should concern every shopper. Yo what extent do we lose control over ur information on line is a question big enough to get the US congress and the European Union 's attention, after all.

I think Dan and the IMSC or MSPA were waring
I don't know about the warring part but it is my understanding that he is not going to be a vendor at either IMSC or MSPA conferences this year. If I am mistaken, he will probably reply. He and Jeff both seem to monitor the forum as do some of the others involved with the presentation of the VideoCon meeting.

I was told they were banned from the mspa by someone in the mspa fb group when I noticed his name and company were grayed out. Nobody mentioned a war though. I did not get an email and I am a member of the mspa and imsc.
I'm actually glad I got the email.... I had forgotten about VideoCon and am glad to get a discounted rate.
