Eyelash Extension Shops

Has anyone done these? I have a few questions. The few times I see them listed, they fly off the boards.

I have not done them, but if it's a service you want to keep-up, it's likely worth it. It's a pretty decent monthly expense. You can't just do it once. I guess you could, but it's like getting gel nails once.
Guess I'm not with this MSC, I would try it, my lashes need help.

Live consciously....
Yeah, it is like getting fake nails, you have to keep up with it and it is pretty expensive. They looked great on me for about 3 days then I had to take them off. There was no way that I could keep up with the expense. Fake nails, fake hair, and fake eyelashes can really take a bite off your budget, but it was fun.
I want to try them, but I am concerned about damage to my lashes. I would also like to know about the rotation.

I don't know about rotation, but I think that you have to get them filled once a month?

Since the client has not been named, try Shared Insight.
The shops I get have the option for a facial or eyelash extension. I always go for the facial.
How long are they supposed to last? What happened after three days?

They say the lash extensions last a month, but it depends on: how good a job the beautician does, quality of product, your sleeping habits, your beauty/shower routine. I'm a big baby and wriggled the whole time they were being put on - the glue stinks. I'm a side sleeper and lashes get mooshed into the pillow. I shower daily and in the summer 2x. Yeh, false lashes lasted ME less than a week. Not a great $75 investment sad smiley A better choice would be individual lashes for special occassions - only about $35 where I live.

I would be concerned about the glue they use. I am sensitive to petroleum products. A good mascara (Este Lauder) is good enough for me.
Mine only lasted 3 days because I am a side sleeper and rub my eyes too much. In the morning they would look all crazy and I would have to "comb" them back into shape. Then a random eyelash would just fall out onto my cheek. The eyelashes are thicker than our own and more coarse. Don't get me wrong, they looked beautiful, just not a good fit for me as even contacts drive me batty. My initial ones were about $250 and the technician said I should get a "fill" once every three weeks for about $75. At my daughter's wedding, I had the individual eyelashes applied just for the occasion. By the end of the night, I was pulling at those also. Lesson learned.
How do you wash your face? How do you put on/remove eye makeup? What happens if you sweat? I have allergy eyes. Lashes probably would not be a good fit for me.

All that I have to add to what's been said is that oils will also affect the life of your eyelashes. If you use any facial products with oils then it will make them last much less.

I agree with whoever said that buying lashes to wear when needed is a much better option. Sephora offers a class where they teach you how to apply them. The class is free but you have to buy the lashes. They will also cut the lashes to fit your eyes.
Also u cannot curl or apply mascara - at least that is what I was told. Mine were so expensive because I got a lot put on and they were from minks?? Oh and the adhesive does smell. I was getting so antsy when they were being applied I started to sweat. That is also a big NO NO -

That’s sort of what I’ve been trying to imply this entire time
What? $275? Well, I've had them done in San Diego, Palm Springs, and Marin County.... Never cost that much. Marin County was pricey (for me) but nothing like where you live - ouch!
HonnyBrown - Well, I was supposed to daintily pat my face clean, but I'm kind of a mess. I like my potions, scrubbing brush, etc... I sweat, rub my face, etc. Now I only do the individual lashes - not the FULL SET, and only for "fancy".
Plain gal here. What is the appeal of fake, false, extended, selected, or other additional eyelashes? I have a reason for asking, and I can understand if someone is waiting for eyelashes to grow back or they were not born with eyelashes and want some. I also understand if these will add a littte 'oomph' around the eyes for a photograph.

That's good to know about Sephora, thanks!

Wow....I get styes during allergy season. I have to apply acne cream on my lids in the morning. I guess that would be a no? I guess you can't exfoliate either!

I did the shop but I did not sign up for the monthly plan. I had it done because I had a few special occasions coming up and so it was good timing. Mine lasted for a month and then a few stray ones by the corners of my eyes that stayed on for a few more weeks. I opted for the natural style so it was not too obvious when it started falling off. A good first-time experience.

Other than for photographs, enhancing your lashes makes your eyes look bigger which in turn can make you appear younger and/or more awake. With lash extensions, you can wake up looking like your lashes are already curled & mascara'd.
Totally agree! I did not have to line my eyes or put on any eye make up for the entire month, not that I usually do anyway. Wake up and you’re good to go!

I will have to look for this job for the facials. I can do without eyelash extensions. For a similar story to some of these I did a high end nail shop a few years ago. I actually was able to keep the polish on for several weeks before it started looking too chipped vs when I do my own nails and it lasts to the next day if I am lucky. However, when I finally took the polish off my nails had turned a whitish grey and did not return to normal for several weeks. I wonder how great all those chemicals are for your nails/eyes etc.
The MSC I've seen these with uses the Client Smart software, and the most I've seen them go for is just under $80 reimbursement. I'm not interested in these, so I haven't looked any further into it than that.
I initially thought that for $80, you could get some beautiful lashes for a month or so. The $250 figure is now in my head.

The one that I did was fully reimbursed plus a small fee. So no out of pocket expense.
