So mad at myself

I did a shop at a sit down restaurant for alcohol compliance (first one).
Due to 100% stupidity on my part I left my paper work for the shop in my desk at work. I had already read the parts that told me what to look for and take "mental" notes of so I felt comfortable. What I did not read yet was the way they wanted the report worded (i.e: guest 1, guest 2 etc.). I typed it up with names etc.
EXACTLY what they did not want.
This is my first job with this company but I will only assume they will not reimburse me now because it was wrong. I feel like such an idiot and am now out $35.

Anyone want to share a "mistake" they have made to make me feel a little better?

If they don't pay you because you typed it with names instead of some other moniker I would raise heck - that is not a reason to withhold pay or reimbursement. They might send it back to you and make you re-write it, they might lower your grade or score (if it is a company that gives them) and they might send you a nasty email - but they darn well better pay you. smiling smiley
You were already comped by the manager for the food, right? So this is only the additional fee -is it $5 or $10? I'm guessing this is Nationwide, one of the nicest companies around. I'm thinking they will edit your report and you will still get paid. E-mail Laura Unger and explain.
No comp by manager, I was not to reveal unless the server failed. Its not really pay, just reimbursement for the money I spent on dinner (35.00) - thanks for the comments I feel a little better.
If it goes bad for me, I know this is a lesson learned on my part.
And yes they do score sad smiley
Sorry to here that happened on your first job for Co. Worse things can happen, I once did a job and was NOT supposed to speak to the person in charge of the Kiosk....well, I forgot and asked a couple questions while getting card, things like this do happen, don't be so hard on yourself, and you'll probably get paid but get a couple points deducted on report. Every MSC wants something different, we could all go crazy if we don't take it with a grain of salt!

Live consciously....
This will lower your score because an editor will have to work with your report but I'm betting you will get paid.
Lesson learned, Justme615. In the grand scheme of things, it's piddly. In your shopping business, your rating may take a hit, but it is certainly not insurmountable. Have you received the report back, or feedback? Maybe the report will be sent back to you for correction.
The hardest part after a bad shop is getting 'back in the saddle' to go do the next one. Hopefully you will get this one back to fix and/or it will be fixed for you with a points deduction and paid. Either way, there will be hesitation about the next shop. "Don't let the turkeys get you down." Get on out there and get your next shop done and reported so that you are on your way moving past it.

Look we all have done a job like that at one time or another. I have just 2 questions for you. Was the food good? Was the person you ate with plesant to be with? If the answer is yes then you did not lose this much. Just remember before you write your next paper up review your shop you have up to 12 hours. I always have a small recorder with me to record my whole shop if I need to review. After I finish my report I delet my recorder till my next shop. Don't get to upset.

Recently, I found myself in a similar situation. I was working on a report and I wanted to take a break. Instead of "save", I hit "submit". I had only typed two sentences in the narrative box. There were more negatives I needed to explain. Or, at least I thought I needed to explain. After the premature submission, I emailed the scheduler and asked him to send it back to me, explaining what I had done. I never heard a word. After a few days, the status moved from pending to confirmed. Go figure.
I thought I had read over everything for a new company. I did my best and then got home to find out I was supposed to tell them if a certain sign was visible. I couldn't decide what to do, go back (it wasn't for very much money), etc. Finally I checked, "I did not see the sign", which was one of the choices and in the narrative, I put, I will not lie to you, I forgot to check for this sign. That was last week, and I haven't heard anything back, so think I'm okay.

I have been shopping now for almost 6 months. We have all made mistakes here and there. What I do, is....
I always notify the scheduler of my mistake either before my report, or as soon as I submit it. I have found that if you are up front and volunteer your mistake, the company will realize that you care and are aware of your faults.
The other day I forgot the #1 rule besides revealing my identity. I did not get the receipt. I completed and submitted the report. I then emailed the scheduler and apologized. (It was my first shop with the company) I ended up receiving a 9/10. Another time, I just spaced. I forgot to go and even perform the shops.
Again, I emailed the scheduler and told the truth; That I just simply forgot to go. I did not make up a crazy story. I told her that I did not have an excuse.
She appreciated the honesty and rescheduled for me. (whew another chance for that $65.00). Don't be too hard on your self, we all make mistakes, and it is for sure we will all make many more to come.
Good Luck :0)

What no-one has asked is------before witing your report why didn't you just download/print the paperwork again? Somewhere between leaving work, going home(?), doing the shop and reporting the shop, you remembered.

You also said you received a "outstanding." so actually what you mentally noted was ok.

Some MSC paperwork is available before, during, and after submitting the report. Don't panic.
Platitudes. We're allowed to be human. Honesty is the best policy. As long as the good far outweighs the bad, our value increases.
to 57 Carol. If the sign were visible I'm sure you would have seen it.

There are some proof readers who don't look at their E-mails & no phone number is given. Twice I found out only when looking for my pay that there was a problem.Like the time the branch manager demoted herself and became the teller, loved it so that she certainly could not refer me to herself for further questions at her desk on the platform but performed from the teller window.
You'd think I'd get a phone call or an E-Mail? Nope, they tried to save $17.Creeps!
