Found good resource for new video shoppers

I haven't been doing video shops for very long. I've spoken to people who have been doing them for years. I rented equipment to try it out. Loved it. I recently purchased my gear. It took me a while to do so as I thought you had to spend 700 bucks, at least, to get started. I spent 400 which included an additional battery and cable for charging on the go. If you do shops under 3 hours you can get by with 350. (I highly recommend an additional battery!). I just want to share with other newbies out there. I purchased from Joe at the Mystery Shoppers Depot. He was kind, uber informative and gave me a spreadsheet of all the companies that hire video shoppers. He gave me such helpful tips. No, I am not related. No, I don't get kick backs. It was hard for me to get started and I just want to share the shopper love.

I noticed that Joe and Alex (his partner) were very helpful to everyone at the IMSC conference in May. That list of which MSCs accept which video sources is a valuable tool for anyone contemplating video work. I also found that Joe really stood behind the products he sells. When one model began failing several customers, he recalled ALL of them that he had sold and made the source reimburse for every single one! Since then, they have been doing extensive testing of alternatives to the PV-500 that may be less expensive. They agree that only time will tell as to whether the lighter gear ill hold up as long as the sturdy PV-500s. (I have 2 pre-20010 models and they are going strong!). I had been skeptical of Joe and their new company, but am feeling MUCH more positive since I saw Joe and Alex over 3 days of working with video newbies. I wish them well!

Thank you for the kind words you two. The spreadsheet in question is also located below.

We are also cheap =) Just had a customer get quoted over 100 bucks for overnight delivery to help get her shops done on Wednesday. She double checked. They confirmed the price was accurate.

We got it done for $41 dollars.

We are also proud sponsors of the IMSC and are active members. Whoever you do buy from, try to make sure they are held accountable to either the MSPA or IMSC. That way if you have issues, they can hold us accountable.

Tell us what you want, we'll give you a quote. No pressure, no baloney.

p.s. We also do offers and giveaways on our facebook page. The two most were a $25 gift card for a pizza place of your choice, and $50 off a Lawmate Evo-2U kit with Bu-19 camera.

Nice to hear that video shopping is working for you and that there are some good companies out there. I've only done one video shop and haven't invested in equipment yet.
Sign up for all the companies IMO.

If you want video shop training we give IMSC online video shop training for free (75 value if you buy on your own) if you buy a kit from us at regular price. This is a permanent offer because we want to make sure you know how to use your stuff and can go make money right away.

You can also borrow equipment from a company and see how you like doing shops before sinking money into it.

We have the new Lawmate NEO kits as well as a generic store branded version that's cheaper.

Here's a link for the newest Lawmate kit though if you were interested.
