Special expense

Special expense for (TRAVEL EXPENSES ARE NEGOTIABLE)

What price would U put out there without appearing too greedy? A MSC,(whom we have discuss recently), has added shops to their board. In a 20 mile radius there in my area there are 52 shops. In 5 mile radius there are 15. Up to now I have only done the within 5 mile shops. I figure, 10 mile a shop, I am putting on my car. I have already done 6 of their shops. But there is more to do.!!!!!

this special expense shows up :-) OOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKK

Keep in mind that the shopper's fee also went up from $10 to $12.50. I don't know how many more boxes of cereal I want to receive, but I can handle.

So the Audience of Delight, what is a good price to negotiate for, to travel the extra distance, without going gaga greedy?

I know which shop you mean. I've never put a special expense. I only pick the locations that I would be passing in a route.
L901, even the within 7 mile are close to my job. The only problem, is I get off at 3:30pm and the shops close at 5;00pm. The limit is 4 a day (set by the MSC), I would do them on my days off. If I do 4 in one day, I want xx$ per shop for traveling. Other same shops,I want more cause I travelling further.

My family lives in Long Island, NY. For the shops there I really want to get more. Plus I would be traveling there for T-Day. MSC, please!!!!!:-)
I haven't asked for mileage assistance unless it was over 40 miles from me. If the MSP is in a bind and asks my help, and the shop works for me, I generally ask in the neighborhood of .35 to .45 a mile. A 'special expense' for a shop within fewer miles of me may be warranted, but basing it on mileage wouldn't be the way I'd go with it. I would be more inclined to ask for a lump sum, $10, $20. . . an amount proportionate to the shop fee and pain in the you know what factor.
I appreciate that Trendsource gives their guidelines for distance expenses. They are low but not mandatory. The less enthusiasm I have to get the job the higher the distance expense I will quote. There are places 20-25 miles from me that I will not go without substantial additional fee simply because getting there is outrageously difficult, especially during tourist season (approx Nov 15-Apr 15). It can readily take me 2 hrs each way due to traffic, so definitely not worth it even for a $30 shop.

The thing to keep in mind is that if you DO want the shop you may readily be underbid by someone for whom it is in their normal shopping area so they may ask for only a tiny bonus to make themselves feel like it is worthwhile or no bonus at all. The company could care less that you are taking a day off from your regular job to do theirs.

I have a few companies that will just outright contact me with distance offers that are hard to refuse because they know from our years of working together that the reports submitted are client ready, so if it is due tomorrow and I submit it tomorrow, they are still absolutely on schedule. They also know that even if I have car trouble, I will find a way to get it done, so once it is assigned to me, they can consider it done.
When I go 50 miles rd. trip to do (two) of my famous Chanel shops, I ask for a small gas fee, I get a bonus of fromn five to seven dollars...but that's a lot more miles than your talking about. I go at least 20 miles without asking or getting more $$. The fact that you can get up to four shops should make up for the time and gas spent. I "might" ask for a small bonus, but not a specific amount, let them decide. Without putting you down, this sounds a little greedy.

I don't think it sounds greedy. I think it sounds smart. If you don't ask, you won't get it, for sure.

I don't do Chanel unless I get a huge bonus. I wait for the emails begging for normal fees, then the small bonus emails. Then they call. I tell them my price, and they always seem to meet it. The store is only a few miles away. It is what I think my time is worth, and other luxury brands pay way more than Channel, so I think it is the MSC being cheap (as they are until they bonus their pizza, too.)
Chanel takes all of 15 minutes, at least for fragrance or skin care, so, I think $15.00 + 7 bonus is fine, when you do two...$44.00 for 45 minutes seems fair.

Keep in mind, I did not offer the travel fees to be negioated. The compnay offered it.

I do not ask for the day off. I have the day off, If I am going to doing a shop that is 10 miles away, I am not doing it b4 work or after work. These shops closes at 5:00pm. My day off is the day to do long distance shops.

Four shops a day within a 5 mile radius is far more miles than 1 ten mile radius shop. There are 52 shops in a 20 (40RT) radius.

If the MSC is willing to negociate travel expense then I should be able to question them as to how much. If their offer is too small then we will have to check out my offer.

Do they want the shop done or not? Most of these particluar shops are less than 10 minutes.

Ten (10) minutes for a 20 (40RT) mile shop for no extra $$$$$$$ ??????????????

Greedy ???????????????? :-( :-(
When I do Chanel, bonus or not, I am told, two cannot be done in one day. Am I wrong about this?
For me the Chanel shops were one block from each other, so, no extra driving. Remember we are all just giving our personal experiences, and they vary from person to person.

Kittybratt, your right, one Chanel shop at a time, but you can do one Chanel and one Competitor. Mine was a free standing Boutique and fragrance in Saks. They do now have long rotations on Chanel.

I was asked by one scheduler, completely unfamiliar with my state's layout, if I could fit in a shop 280 miles away! She was offering a $7 bonus! LOL I said I'd be glad to do it if they covered my expenses. She said they might be able to do that what did I have in mind, I said 2 days parking at the airport, air fare, rental car, hotel and meals. She said just how far away is it and I told her. She said oh dear and I suggested some ways she might get help in that back woods area!
i dont think anyone is being greedy to ask for more money regardless of the circumstance... we all know the economy sucks and hey.. the msc can just say no...

shopping north west PA and south west ny
The MSC can also get someone else to do it....they have shops here that just don't get done, being located in a oddball place. I am asked and offered bonus (nothing outrageous)and still won't do them. Have a thing about the location, and they still won't give more than the offered 5 bucks. The MSC have so much "play money", and really can't offer crazy anounts and remember there are always the shoppers that work for $4.00...they'll come out of the woodwork for a bonus.
