Suggest a strategy for these phone shops...

There is one phone store that routinely meets you at the door and asks for your phone number or account number. I have had several of these stores who would not talk to me about a PHONE if I was not a current customer, or planning on switching to them...for the shops where I'm looking for just a phone recc...anyone have any suggestions for a ploy? Or do I keep reporting that they didn't want to talk to me? It does make for an easy report to fill out...and I do always get paid, but...dang.

You're right, I've gotten the "bum's rush" at a couple of these places when I said I wasn't a current customer.

And that's what I put in the report.
yes its called I am thinking of switching service what phone would you recommend. Current provider is too expensive (verizon or AT&T) or coverage sucks (Sprint or T-Mobile).

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
It's not up to us to make employees do their job. If a location is giving potential customers the bum's rush, the client needs to know. I would just say I was there to sign up for new service and then report what happened.
The shops are for the phones - either recommendations or knowledge - not service plans. So using "I'm interested in switching my service" does sometimes get you in the door, but then they only want to tell you about the service plans available..it can become a chore to get them to talk about the phones...For the pay, I'm not willing to spend 30-40 minutes prying information from someone who is desperately trying to sign me up for service...I always do my best, and I give them every chance to do their job, but if I come in asking about a phone...let's talk about a phone...ugh.
If you're not willing to risk wasting a lot of time, don't do phone store shops. There are certain chains and locations I avoid.
