I am medically retired and I can make up to $8000 a year before it affects my Social Security.

I'm retiring next spring and I have a monthly goal of $500-$600 a month to supplement my pension. I decided to take 2 months and practice hitting that goal. With a full-time job and an 80 mile daily commute I was still able to make $500 a month. I guess I can afford to retire happy now.

My goal is to cook a lot (hopefully with groceries from my shops).
I dated a guy in my 20's who declared, "The only thing that you know how to make for dinner is reservations."

Not exactly true, but why would I cook after working 9 hours?
Because it tastes better than most restaurant food and no one else in your house can do it better?
I am with @JASFLALMT on this one. Nothing makes me feel better then my wife thanking me for a great meal I cooked after a long day of crap at work. We split the duties here. 25%me, 25%her, 50%someplace we get/go for food. LOL

LOL. You all are too funny. We frequently experiment with small and large recipe changes. The only rule is to remember that we do not have to like it, love it, or hate it. We just have to taste the variations. Usually, we like the results. Occasionally, we love the results. A few times, we have discovered why some recipes should never be altered.

I don't do recipes, at least not often (maybe once every couple of years?). I invent my own, much to my family's delight!
I find cooking therapy, making something taste good, and I seldom use recipes, a pinch of this, a dab of that.
I like to control my salt and sugar intake, however, I eat lunch out, but usually dinner in. I feel healthier using fresh food without preservatives, salt and such. I just don't like cleanup.

There was a show in which some chef cooked off or baked off against an unknown challenger. i have forgotten the name of the show. The contestants made the same recipe, but the results were different. Anyway, I wondered if any of the talented cooks who post here would ever want to participate in something like that. It could be fun?

It does sound like fun, but my cooking style is soooooo slooooow that if there were time constraints I would not do well. I like to sip wine, chat with guests, eat appetizers, clean in between courses, and cook along the way.
I do a Google search for my key ingredients. If I can't find a recipe I like I'll cobble together one based on several of the hits I got.

Beat Bobby Flay? Timed event, LOL. Would not work for me. I am a great home cook but not good enough to compete with Bobby Flay, even if I had all day to do it.

Dunno the name of the chef. But if you can't compete, no one can. *sigh*

The show has top chefs/restaurant owners competing with Bobby Flay, fun show, watch it often. There is another show on Foodnetwork with those that can't cook (at all), I may go on that one.....

They wouldn't take you on that Worst Cooks in America show, Irene, I am sure you cook too well to be on that show smiling smiley

Bobby Flay...exactly right, top chef/restaurant owners trying to beat Bobby...I don't qualify for that. Good home cook, not a chef. My knife skills are whack.
Like a few others, I work full time and try to make about $200 a month. Its fun bonus money!
A few months a year I'll top $1000, with $1600 being my best ever. Other times I'm lucky to hit $200. It depends on what is available.
Based on the past few months MSing I have been averaging around $350 a month pre taxes. This is roughly about 25 shops per month. I will finish out the year with Nov and Dec aiming to avg minimum $350, but for 2019 I am setting my goals to average $450 a month pre taxes. I also want to offset half my gas expenses with these gas shops towards the month. I have three MSCs that do gas shops and I see I can collect at minimum $12 per shop with a reimbursed snack. Since I only budget $100 for gas a month, and normally fill up no more than once a week. So I just need to pick up four gas stations for two weeks of the month and use the fees/reimb. to offset half my gas costs.

Now that I work full time and I received a nice pay raise and promotion, I am aiming to save $10,000 for 2019. With MS I want to make enough to save another $4000. Lately, I have been looking to do long routes traveling cities further north and gather some bonuses. For now in Nov and Dec I am aiming to perfect route planning in my regular 5-10mi, and 15 -20 mi away cities. I am also going to start tracking how often MSC posts certain jobs on a routine basis and keep track of the rotations, and when they start to bonus.

I also make about 350 to 500 per month mystery shopping and

work full time with a job that is not mystery shopping

Had a fantastic October
Made close to 700 dollars..aiming to increase that moving fwrd

A couple of great tips I learned from this board...sign up for tons and tons of mystery shopping companies

I was not mystery shopping monday through friday..due to working full time..now have changed that to a few shops monday to friday..it definitely adds up

If you don't already do this another great tip from this board is to sign up for 3 to 5 shops in the same area of the city...I guess this should be common sense but not something I was doing

Don't be afraid to reach out to the schedulers if the timeframe doesn't work for you but you can maybe work it the next day..etc ..sometimes they are flexible sometimes not....but it never hurts to ask..I have been successful many times with this method...

My dream goal is to pay our house payment with my shopping income which it 900 a month.

You're averaging $14 per shop. You should be able to hit your target by increasing you average to $18 a shop and working no extra. That shouldn't be hard to do. $14 A shop is low.

To second what bgriffin said on the weekend I mostly focus on bank jobs because they pay on average between 20 to 40 dollars a shop, I usually do about 3 to 6 in one day during the weekend and I do a few retail shops during the week and weekend if they are on my way to the bank shops or have a great bonus.. The only thing I don't like about the sit down bank shops is I still feel extremely awkward doing them. I still do them though...
The more experienced shoppers will tell you to focus on the car dealerships, the apartment shops and the video shops for more money in a short period of time just so you know....

Just say no to car dealerships unless they pay $50 or more. Screw apartment shops, too, LOL. That's just me!

But, most importantly, do what works for you!
I once did a car dealer for $17. I did a high end car dealer for $20 and others for $30. After completing a few hundred shops, you absolutely get an idea of what is worth it and what is not. The ones for $30 were at least at a dealer where I was considering purchasing one of their vehicles. I have another scheduled for $45 and just completed two others for the same amount. The test drives have been helpful, at least.
Hey, really $45 is pretty good, especially if they are close to home (and if it's Intelli). I just have been busy with other assignments that pay as well or better but take less time, so I won't. If I had less on my plate I might consider something for less.
My monthly goal is at least $1k in fees. I usually make more though a few slow months happen when life gets in the way. That's what is nice about this job. BTW, I detest apartment and car dealerships and don't do video, so it's possible by having a good base of companies and schedulers who trust you with many shops.

I work full time and shop part time. I am happy if I make $500/month in fees and $1,000 in reimbursements. When I retire (soon) that will change as I will shop full time.
How many phone shops are you doing to equal $600 a month? Most phone jobs are $2-3 here in FL.
