I NEED A LIST OF COMPANIES THAT HAVE A LOT OF JOBS IN NYC

Warning: This User Has Been Banned or Is No Longer Active
I signed up for a few companies that send me email notices about their available shops, but most of them are very far. I want to limit my travel time & save money on gas. Does any one have a list of companies that have lots of shops available primarily in the NYC area???

I anyone had such a list they would most likely be shoppers in the NYC area. Shoppers develop their list, or, as some around here refer to it, their money tree, after months and sometimes years of hard work. Mystery shopping can be fun and profitable, but it does involve work. Most of the veteran shoppers has spend many hours signing up with companies, as many as 200 or more. On an average day I get anywhere from 100-150 emails for shops. Of those maybe two or three will be a fit for me.

Also, clients move from 1 company to another, some take a rest from being shopped and some stop shopping altogether. So a company that has a lot of shops in NYC today will not have any there in a month or two.

Keep reading the posts on this forum and sign up with as many companies as you can. Keep reading all your emails and checking the job postings regularly and you will get a feel for what companies you like to work with and what companies have shops you like to do.
shayika Sorry not to give you the answer on a silver platter but the way to earn a shop is to work for it.
We all have signed up for any company out there. Then follow and dig. It is not just given.
Of course if you are spending a little time reading the forum you know about Jobslinger and about the list of legitimate companies here. As Barbage mentioned, many of us are signed up with 200+ companies--basically every company we have ever heard of. In any given year I will see shops available with 30-40 of them. I generally work with only 20-30 of them--the others have "issues" such as low pay, slow pay, attitude, etc. And those companies you sign up with that currently have no work are not a 'waste of time' as you never know when they will have clients in your area. I was signed up with one company for 2 years before I ever got my first chance to work with them. This month they account for about 25% of my income. Another company with whom I worked generally once or twice a year has suddenly gotten a fairly short duration client and accounts for another almost 25% of my income this month. There really is no substitute for being signed up, receiving emails and building your reputation for good and timely work so that when opportunities exist, you are eligible.
We all worked hard signing up for companies. There is a complete list on this forum. Why would someone just hand you a list. I was given much help when I first started out two year's ago. However, the sign up was done by me.

Perhaps if the OP is a new shopper s/he didn't realize the process. Reading the forum is key.

Thank you Barbage, you seem to be the only one with a good response. I signed up with this forum close to a year now....I just never posted anything before, because I'm to busy reading emails that don't have jobs in my area. Yes, I read the getting started & some of the other information. I found jobslinger, MSPA & volition on my own, while looking more companies to apply for, before I even found this forum. Kittybratt, even if I was blessed enough to get the list, I would still have to apply to the companies, right. I was hoping there was an easier way to focus on one area & that I would be able to find the answer here; guess not!!!!!

Shayika, we are not a bunch of companies giving out jobs here. We are all shoppers who earn a little (and I do mean little) money for our shopping work. This forum is a place we can come to vent about hard jobs and low pay and to share ideas about how to handle particular shops. It's also a place shoppers can warn other shoppers about companies that pay slow or do not pay. It is not a place you can put in an order for a list of companies. To find companies that have jobs in your area, you need to go to the list of companies on this forum, [www.mysteryshopforum.com], and apply with several. After applying, you will be able to see their job boards and you will see what jobs they have in your area. Jobs are posted all different times, and companies get new clients all the time, so just because jobs are not posted right now does not mean they never will be. Mystery shopping is a lot of work, especially at first when you are locating companies and trying them out to decide which you like best. Good luck.
Once again, this forum has helped me and my income has doubled since I started two year's ago. However, no one handed me a state on a silver plater, I signed up with companies.

Shaika, you have a poor attitude and that is something we don't want here.

Part of being a good mystery shopper is having a good relationship with your schedulers.
I live in New York City and will gladly supply a few;leads I was very surprised to see all the nastiness of the shoppers who posted on here. We really should be helping each other out and not be so self irghteous. Anyway, it's surprising how many mystery-shopping companies don't have assignments in New York City. You would think that most companies would because we're such a large banking and retail center. I really do just bank shops now and can recommend ATH Power, Informa and Maritz. They seem to have steady work. Also, sign up with Jobslinger.com ( it's free ), which lists jobs for companies that use the SASSIE system. You can get a lot of local listings by typing in the mileage that you're willing to travel based on your zip code. Most of the job on there seem to be for retail or fast food.

Also try Market Force. They have some national companies and should have some work in NYC.
Ouchie! The OP is being very rude and yelling (CAPS) is not going to help.

Do your research and you'll find what you're looking for ~ in fact, it sounds like you may have gotten started. With your attitude and BS, none of us are going to want to help you. You sound like a late-teen, young adult and you'll soon lose your crusty attitude once you realize that nobody gives a crap and that people aren't put on the planet to serve/help you. If you've been doing this work for a while, you would know that there's no such thing as a "local list" of companies. MSCs get and lose clients all the time and most MSCs are national or international. That's why we all sign up with many of them in the hopes that they will one day have work for us. It's a long tedious process but that's how it's done.

Did you not learn that you attract many more flies with honey than with vinegar? If you haven't, it's high time you did!

Have a nice day smiling smiley

L-)
I am from NYC as well, but why the hell would I want to give you that list anyway? I see other mystery shoppers in my area as competitors. I am not saying that I dislike them and all, but in no way in hell am I going to help them get jobs that I could potentially do myself, especially if they have a bad attitude. Sorry if that sounds selfish, but I view this as a business. You want jobs in NY, then do the hard work yourself and find them.

This does not sound selfish to me. We are Independent Contractors running a business. We build our businesses by researching and signing up with companies, performing contracted work for those companies, and building relationships with the most profitable (for us) MSPs. We can share methods and ideas with other ICs, just as companies share their ideas with other companies. But only if we think of our company as a hobby rather than a business would we give away some of our jobs. How many MSPs share their clients with other companies? The client may elect to use a variety of MSPs, but the MSPs do not share their client lists among other MSPs. There is quite a lot of sharing that goes on here at the forum: someone who is willing to spend the time necessary to read the new shopper instructions here and apply to many companies, keeping good records, will probably be successful. There is even a huge list of companies to apply with. Many, like me, applied to most of them, a few every day, until I had applied with most of them. And, yes, I get an enormous number of e-mails every day, many for jobs that are not in my area or are uninteresting to me, and I delete those that I don't want. Time consuming though it may be, that is part of the work involved in building and maintaining a business. I have invested a lot of time and work in my business, and, while I am more than willing to share ideas and information about tools and methods, my client list is confidential.

She certainly sounds very juvenile and immature. But if she only paid attention to what we are trying to say here. She keeps repeating, "I just asked for a list. I will do the work of applying." What she is not hearing is that "The List" is our most precious commodity in this business, and getting it is maybe the hardest part of the process.
Dear Santa: I've been a good girl. Mostly winking smiley I want a site where I can put in my secret code. Various MSPs will seek me out and continually flood my inbox with high paying, easy shops - all just around the corner from my house.

P.S. Thank your elves for deactivating the ones that aren't so nice.
Mert to Santa
you forgot to ask Santa for instant payment too.... no more waiting weeks and chasing $!
I've just read this thread and oh my goodness gracious.

Well I never!

(Actually I have.)

And what will Wikileaks be releasing about the people on this forum?

I'm a newby and learned quickly that you have kiss a lot of frogs (er...mystery shop companies to sign up to) and THEN determine which are best for you geographically, financially, and personally.

We're all shopping magicians who have worked hard to pull jobs out of our...hats.

We ain't called secret fer nothing.

It's not a matter of selfishness.

It's a right of passage.

Happy Holidays, shop til you drop, but don't pay for anything you buy.

Have them pay you.
