Shopping the Wrong Date

I've been a mystery shopper for about 3 years. I've done hundreds of shops, but I guess I am still considered new compared to people who have been shopping for decades.

Embarrassing as it is, I admit I shopped the wrong date today. I cannot believe I made that mistake. I always thought shoppers who did that were like "those people," as in how can those people keep doing dumb stuff like that. Well, I spoke too soon, and now I'm one of those people. I thought this would never happen to me, but it did.

Has anyone ever accidentally shopped the wrong date before? What happened? How did the MSP handle it when you told them? How many times have you made this mistake? Has anyone else made this mistake isolated, like I did? Have you ever shopped for years without this happening, and then it happened? How bad is this, and will the MSP forgive me?

Well, it has not been rejected just yet. There is a fair chance the scheduler can fix it. I did originally ask for this date, but the shop was dependent on when the shop materials would arrive in the mail. So, the agreement was that I would pick a date arbitrarily, but if I got the materials on time, the date would be changed to today. Well, I forgot to remind the scheduler of this when the materials arrived last night. Hopefully, she responds before midnight.
I shopped the wrong date once and my shop was rejected. Rightfully so. I signed up for a certain date and did not hold up my end of the bargain.

Most shops are date and time specific for a reason, be it a targeted associate, busy or not busy time of day/week/month or a plethora of other reasons that more seasoned shoppers will be able to suggest.

You may be able to reshop if you ask the MSC.
Well, materials in the mail change everything. Nothing like my shop.

Couldn't tell you how to proceed, but it seems like you've handled it appropriately so far.
It entirely depends on the shop and MSC. I would guess for a majority of shops it wouldn't matter. Some shops have particular reasons not to shop particular days but most do not. For instance most new car shops don't want you to shop on a weekend. So if you out in a date for Monday the 3rd and actually shopped it on Tuesday the 4th most MSCs wouldn't care. There's no reason it couldn't be shopped on the 4th. The ones that would care would mostly be the ones that are on power trips. For other shops, say a 5 Guys, they want shops done Thursday through Sunday so if you accidentally shopped on Tuesday they would reject it. It sounds like maybe you were doing one of the soda reveal shops. I would guess those would not be day dependent and it would be fine.

I've done this. All I did was let the msc know my error right away and offer to reshop if needed. In my case, they accepted the shop without reshopping. Not all mscs are lenient though..

Shopping Idaho and Oregon/Idaho border region.
It’s really going to depend on whether that date was available. Sounds like it originally was so you might be ok.

I shopped an expensive restaurant a day early (last day of the month where there were 31 days). The restaurant did well and the report showed their excellence. The MSP contacted them and they agreed to take the report a day early. I have no doubt that had they scored poorly, it would have been rejected.

VEGBEAUTI We all make mistakes at some time or another. I think you did the right thing! You had the materials!
I did a coffe place once and in my mind I invisioned the correct one, but drove to the wrong one. It was rejected. And I have been doing M S over 30 years and this happened 4 months ago.
I shopped the wrong month! tongue sticking out smiley Back then: I had an assignment for November 13th and I shopped it October 13th. This was a few years ago... when I had jobs as much as a month out. The scheduler was cool, told me to stick with the original date and told me to go to the November date and the shop was then accepted. smiling smiley
I have never shopped the wrong date yet, but I have shopped the wrong location. Life happens....breath in and breath out...and forward go...
Yes, I did it on purpose. It was a Five Guys delivery shop. The dates for the assignment were 11/29-11/30. I wanted to shop 11/29 but when I attempted to select the date, only 11/30 showed. I accepted the 11/30 date and did the shop on 11/29. It was approved this morning.
That surprises me.

It sounds like an internal fluke. The shop was available both days but on your end, it showed only the 30th. This worked out great for you! smiling smiley
First, you need a a "decent human being" editor/scheduler who isn't on a power trip. Once you have that, I think that they do whatever the are ABLE to do to have your shop pass.... and some shops can pass with a little mistake; some can't, for WHATEVER reason...

I did just that (shopped the wrong date) & I don't know how I did that. I have been shopping for years & never made that mistake. I spoke to the scheduler & she changed the date for me but it was supposed to be in this month....& I shopped the last day of last month. So I'm waiting to see what happens.

Did you self assign this shop or was it offered to you personally?
