Cookies

I turned off cookies in order to try and stop the relentless ads I get for everything I have ever even thought about. Nope. Now my MSC sites won't let me in without cookies being enabled. WTH would an MSC need us to have cookies enabled? Are they selling our info, too?

Secure websites use cookies to validate a user's identity as they browse from page to page; without cookies, login credentials would have to be entered every time we changed pages.

There are other cookie uses, for advertising, which are annoying.

To deal with cookies, I highly recommend ccleaner. You can configure it to be selective on the cookies you want it to keep, like the ones from your bank that remember you've been on the site before so you don't have to receive a SMS code every time you log in.
To eliminate those ads you see on Facebook from a product you searched for on Amazon, check out this site: [optout.aboutads.info]
If you enable third-party cookies you will be carpet bombed with ads and pop-ups. I disable them but allow cookies from the sites I visit and have no problems with sites loading properly. Self-destructing Cookies will blow up most cookies when you close the tab or the browser. The free version of CCleaner, mentioned above, will find and delete cookies that remain. Wise Disk Cleaner (free version) will find and delete the ones CCleaner missed.
