US shopper in Canada - taxes

Toying with the idea of spending a few weeks in Canada next year, and wondering if it's worth it to pick up a few shops while there, or if the paperwork hassle will be much more than it would be worth. Any insights appreciated.

I'm a Canadian who has done several when I am down in the US.

Never had an issue. But I always just get paid via Paypal, and add the amounts to my excel sheet for taxes.
Technically you won't owe taxes, since you need to earn over $12,000 in Canada to start paying taxes.

It may make more sense to find Canadian based MSC since they have more options I find.

Fill it out, get paid, move on.

I'm a Canadian, and like most, am within driving distance of the US border. I see shops pop up in upstate NY which I'd love to take, but my understanding is that without a US work permit, mystery shopping in the US is technically illegal for foreign citizens. Do you ever travel to the US specifically for mystery shopping? If so, what do you tell the customs officials at the border?

Hah. I hadn't ever considered that. Since you are self-employed, are you SURE you need a US work permit?

I do know mystery shoppers that shop resorts and hotels overseas...may be some of them will chime in here.....I hope! None of them have ever mentioned needing a work permit to say, shop a hotel in Tokyo or Beijing.
