Advantages to Silver? Gold? MSPA Certification?

I'm just an inquisitive little mystery shopper, aren't I? If this has been previously discussed my apologies for the duplication.

Anyone who has thought this through with more experience than I (almost everyone) and those who have become certified are encouraged to offer your thoughts.

I've been to the MSPA website and obviously they think it's important but what about you folks - the workers in the trenches (or high priced jewelry stores)

Thanks in advance especially to Flash, Ilene & MickyB who have previously been helpful to this newcomer who I hope many don't think asks obvious dumb questions.
And if you do, remember the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

Since I posted, I have found this discussion from past posts using search feature. Doesn't look like it's more than a plaque which says "God's Gift to Mystery Shopping" for which you pay for of course.

There are different views on becoming certified, many of us have Silver, many have Gold, some have no certification. I say Silver is enough and does allow you to get more jobs...this has been argued with, I'm glad I got it when I started.

The advantage to getting MSPA certification is that it puts your money into their pockets. If you think this is a good arrangement then it's up to you. I've shopped 16 years now and see no advantage for me to do that.

I thought I saw a bumper sticker the other day

"My son is a Gold MPSA Shopper and an A student at Alfred E Newman Middle School."

It was admittedly a rather long sticker......
I say this is personal, Silver cost me $15.00, but I did get information from it, $100.00 for Gold is too pricey, but, whatever makes you feel better, do it.
