Todays lunch, wish it was a shop sad smiley

I had lunch today with hubby and daughter at a place I have been shopping now for three months (dine in and bar, alcohol compliance shop's).

We just happened to have a coupon and it was on the way home but sadly no shop scheduled today. I wish so bad it was, the server was so great, sure would like to see him get TRUE recognition for it.

Do you guys all find your self *shopping* even when your off duty?
Its hard to break the mind set once its in place.

Of course. Once you get in the habit of checking restrooms, reading nametags and making mental notes of descriptions, tidiness of displays, conditions of doors and windows etc. it is not a habit that is easy to break (nor would you want to as it is your first line of defense on shops). Wishing it was a shop? Not really. It would be nice to be paid and reimbursed every time I walk in the door of a place, but it is nice to be "off duty" a lot.
Yes, I do that as well, even when not on a job. Sometimes I like that I do it, but other times I'm annoyed, LOL!

The other thing shopping has done for me is to realize the importance of recognizing good service. Just because you're not on a shop doesn't mean you can't reach out and give them recognition. (Of course, this would have to be done by either calling the manager or company headquarters, and I certainly wouldn't reference that you're a shopper!).

There have been many times where I've intended to do this, but didn't always follow through. Since I've been shopping more regularly, I now make a point of it! I actually did this last week, when I renewed my homeowner's insurance. The representative was really wonderful, and went above and beyond the call of duty. When I called the executive office of the company, of course, they thought I was calling to complain. They were SHOCKED -- and also delighted that I was calling to compliment an employee.
