My first reveal with reward!

I was so nervous last night, I wanted the server to get the rather large reward that was offered if she just said the two very simple and required "sells".

Happy to report she DID!!

It felt so good to be able to present her with that IOU. Now I just wish we, the shopper got even a fraction of what she did.

How do you guys deal with the reveals that don't go so great?
It would be a bummer and very hard to eat there again.

Reveals come in a number of 'flavors'. There are those where you reward if they do it right and are silent otherwise. There are those where you have two options--reward or 'better luck next time'--and must present one or the other. I prefer the former as it is a bummer revealing when they did not succeed. At the same time it is important to realize that on a reveal you drastically limit future activity at that location on an anonymous basis.

Yes, it will be a bit strange eating there now - I am sure they will be thinking I am shopping every time. Hey maybe I will now get super service, lol.

I had several shops last year where you give a small gift certificate if the employee does well and larger gift certificate if they do everything required.

I rewarded the smaller gift certificate to an employee. She was very excited and thanked me. She then went back to her employer and said, the questions I asked her were easy. She thought she should have gotten the higher reward. The Mystery Shop then questioned me. I never heard anything further.

Maybe I'm sadistic, but I like the 'better luck next time' shops. I like it when they get the prize too. It makes me strangely happy, either way.
