Am I going nuts or does this shop stink?

Although she may live with you in the next town, this does not preclude the plausibility that she is temporarily away, be it for weeks or months. It is quite frequent in academia, business, government, medicine, and the military for one spouse to be on such an assignment. Just because she has temporarily quarters, be they an Army tent or the Hilton, for a few months does not mean that she does not live with you.

I actually bought my first house without my husband seeing it. He was in the military and he was busy back where we were coming from dealing with the PCS. It actually didn't go well once he saw it (he hated it) but it was too late... perhaps that is why we are divorced now.

But thinking back - I don't remember anyone questioning me on the wisdom of buying the house without him seeing it. Though if they had, I would have ignored them as I had a 9 month old infant son, was alone, and just wanted to get it done. It was actually the FIRST house I looked at too (I think I only looked at four total).

I did the "leg work" for our first house, after all doesn't the woman decide which house to buy?
Hubby came in after and bought it. I said he was working and doesn't have time to shop. When selling our house development (16 homes), many times the woman came in with a broker, and hubby and wife both came back on the weekend. My daughter bought her home alone, and they faxed the papers to her Dad for signature and down. Who's saying a woman can't buy a house, them are fighting words.

My husband had no desire to look at houses. I found both of our houses and also negotiated the prices. I also negotiate all of our major purchases. It's entirely possible for a woman to shop for a home without her husband.

Don't tell me you chop the wood, do the oil changes in the garage, kill the gross bugs, open the pickle jar, etc.

There are more woman Brokers than men, so yes, woman may know more than say a plummer.....let's not keep pretending woman are dumb, woman make emotional decisions which is needed for a house sale...for instance, I love the kitchen, please honny, sold. Price wise, yes, husbands may have the last word, but actually picking out a house, it's up to the woman.

I chop wood. I change the oil. I open pickle jars. I don't kill gross bugs unless absolutely necessary, usually if they are black widow spiders. Most gross looking bugs are ugly but beneficial. (We won't go into my reaction to the ginormous orange and black centipede that attempted to share my space under the deck.)

When I was single mom, I bought two homes on my own.

On a recent shop, the guidelines said that I had to use a $5 off coupon that was given to us with our paperwork. I get to the business and they offer me a $20 off coupon someone had left there. I said I would only like $5 off but would take the $20 off coupon for my son to use. They said it was good for more than one purchase. I said, sorry.... I only want $5 off today but would keep that $20 off for later. Awkward!!!
