Where can I find an MSC for.....

I've been meaning to mention this, and didn't get around to it until I saw that title on a thread.

Believe it or not, I recently found a new-to-me MSC on the "gigs" listing on Craigslist. Under "writing gigs".

I then came on here and checked them out (I mean, "Craigslist" and "scam" ARE two words that fit in one sentence!).

What's the most unusual way you have found or discovered an MSC?

The way I discovered mystery shopping, in general, is by receiving a scam cashier's check. It appeared to be sent by Bestmark and drawn on a legit, local credit union. I took the check into the credit union and asked the teller if it was fake. She ran it through and confirmed what I already knew. She told me that people fall for the scam all the time. She also told me that the scammers make it look more legit by using real MSPs, and that Bestmark was a real company. I went home and looked up Bestmark, and I have been a shopper ever since.
Spammers have my University's email list of students. The shopmetrics companies frequently come from them. I'm assuming the spammers get referral fees for every hit.

I got a part time bookeeping job at a local small msc, and the rest is history! smiling smiley
A thousand years ago I worked at Howard Johnson's and we got shopped. When I grew up, needed a flexible schedule because of small children, and internet had been invented but still new, I started searching. Found it!

And you don't look a day over 35!!

Anyhow, back in 2005, I was looking for unusual ways to make money, and found a site that said if you paid, I think, like $29, they'd send you a list of mystery shopping companies. Well....new to me....I didn't know back then that you could find all the same info for FREE, so I sent the $29. I received a legitimate list of several dozen MSCs, and signed up for several. AFTERWARDS I learned that I could have gotten that same info all for free!! Oh well, haven't paid a dime for any more info since!
My friend is a mystery shopper and she took me out to few times to nice restaurants and nightclubs; and eventually she told me about it and I thought it was a neat way to make some extra money
