5Guys

I am curious, why are they shopped so much? Also, why do their bonuses get so high? I live in a shopper dense area, where I'm sure schedulers could get rid of shops at base fee.

I'm not complaining about it. I make a nice amount from their bonuses. It's just pure curiosity on my part.

IMO - I believe it helps the chain keep up to certain standards, like keeping the place clean, proper food handling, serving fresh food and providing good customer service. There are locations that are great, they do all the things they are suppose to do. Then there are locations where they aren't that clean. I think it helps that corporate gives out bonuses to the top rated locations and that is where we help them. I'm not complaining though when they give out bonuses. The 3-4 week rotation period helps to limit the shoppers.
I wish that were the case in my area. Hardly ever see bonuses more than $5 and that only happens a day or two before they want the shop done.
There's articles online that they focus on mystery shopping instead of advertising and use it as a way to reward the crew members when they get good scores.
I think the bonuses vary a lot from area to area. I'm able to get $25 for most locations, but as high as $50 for others further away.
$5? I did a shop last week for $25 12 miles away. It was next day. I live in a shopper dense area.

I think $25 is my max.

I have always wondered if mystery shopping was a way to gain business. I typically do the shops alone. I go over reimbursement more often than not.

Five Guys and Publix (same MSC) award bonuses and raises to employees based, partly, on our reports. I get bonuses in a competitive area also. These are not locations in the boonies. I can only guess that it's due to flakes, questionable, or rejected reports.
Well, they do not have a customer loyalty program. They do not run promotions of any kind. No lunch specials, BOGO, coupons, etc. No surveys via their receipts.

Leaves money to pay for mystery shoppers. We see threads here often complaining about MSCs or clients promoting surveys for free customer input.

I live in a non dense shopper area, though there's not many shops in this area either. I have never seen a 5Guys bonus shop (or any other from that MSC) in my area over $10. I think they know there's hardly any shops around here and count on the ones they do have to just take whatever they can get. There's maybe 20 shops total in a month within 30 miles, compared to where my BF lives in the Northern part of the state and there's 50 within 1 mile.

I did a 5guys shop and went back to the same location (they got my order wrong bty) and I saw that they were hiring. I REALLY hope I did not get the guy fired BUT he did screw up my order with NO other customers (unacceptable) & the fries were oversalted. 5guys is expensive for a fastfood joint so I see why they need mystery shoppers, no promos ever. These days I only pick up their shops if they are bonused 9-15 bucks for their shop fee or I am in the general area doing other shops. Thank you end of the month shops! PS: is it normal for their cheese not to be melted? I finally decided to treat myself to a cheeseburger and the cheese was NOT melted sad smiley is this normal? if not I will stick to their cheapest burger and save myself about 80 cents or so.
Their cheese is melted 9.9 out of 10 times I shop. Maybe a time or two it was not melted fully, but that is not the norm.
The cheese isn't always melted on my veggie sandwich. On a burger, that's fine. It's not okay on a veggie sandwich.

They are suppose to put the cheese on the burger while it is on the grill, so it should be melted somewhat.
My grilled cheese sandwiches are melted less than half the times. I always mark them off for my sandwich.

I've been wanting to try the grilled cheese option, but I am a grilled cheese snob and I just know, that based on how light they cook some things and over cook some things, I just can't do it.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the two that I go to never have a Manager on site and this is their way of making sure the employees are doing what they're supposed to....Just a thought.
I've almost always seen a shift leader(s) or manager(s) on-site. I think only once or twice I did not see any.

Mystery Shoppers become very important to the 5 Guys employees come pay day. It seems they get a base pay and then a bonus pay which is based on the scores they get from the mystery shoppers. If they have been getting low mystery shopper scores then the bonus is cut.
I shop for them a lot for the money. My reports are monotonous due to their basic standards. The one that I did recently had a nasty exterior. The employee who was supposed to be cleaning was outside goofing off.

They are monotonous. Sometimes I'd like to write more but the character limit is only 300. I guess that limits the reporting time !
In my area, I've yet to see a Manager at either location I go to. And I've done plenty of these. Lost interest in doing them due to the fact that the reimbursement isn't enough, pay is too low, and there's too many narratives. "Was the bun toasted correctly?" Please explain. "Were the fries cooked correctly?" Please explain..........

The questions are easy to answer and only requires a few sentences. Depending on whether someone gets a bonused fee or does the shop because they are in the area and can get a paid meal for a 20 minutes report, this can be a good shop. I've done it for both reasons.

Five Guys is shopping again? I used to do them with a company last year and then the fell off the face of the earth and now it seems as if they're paying really well to do the shops. Now I have to try to investigate who is shopping them haha.
I did a shop last week for the price that was on the website. It was decently bonused, but not at my usual minimum fee. A scheduler called me to do a shop tomorrow. I told her my minimum fee. She said, "Because you did it last for less, I can't go more that $4 above." I accepted.

She said to never self assign for a lower fee, or that will haunt me later.
