Make an Offer Rant

If we are thinking of the same MSC, they have maje an offer jobs with green dollar signs. These will show up once in a while.

Isaiah was saying that the icon wasn't showing and wanting to know how to make an offer without the icon being present. I responded you can't MAO without it without contacting a scheduler or helpdesk.

I had three shops with a make an offer all within ten miles of each other. I started out with a great offer, which got rejected, the next place I knocked it down by two, rejected, I knocked it down by two more and accepted! I've found that this MSC sometimes has hard number cutoffs for price. I've done the same thing on the phone with them. Sometimes the price is irrelevant where I've gotten a lot more than I ever expected.

Right now on their home page there is a Shopper message about how to request a bonus on a shop that is not MAO.

It seems odd that they would post a message telling shoppers how to ask for more money.
What is interesting to me is the concept that they will not pay you more than what you got paid on previous shops. I have read about this on threads before. Mostly these things are unfamiliar in my city as it is only in the past year or so (maybe since the labor market got tight?) that I have seen more and more offers of bonuses. Previously when they had them they were 50c and now they are generally a dollar or two. It seems to me that by the time they are putting up the make an offer icon they are really in need of someone to do the shop. This also makes it fairly last minute for the shopper who might have to switch around their schedule a bit, get somewhere late or perhaps drive from a further location than the last time they did the shop. If they truly are worried enough about the shop getting done to offer a bonus it makes no sense that they would turn me down who is a seasoned shopper for them because I once did the shop at base and then wait days and until it is past due to give some possibly unknown a higher amount than I was requesting. Where is the business sense in that? If MFJ (MF Johnson referring to the recent thread on business sense and mindset needed to run a business) is reading this perhaps he can make sense of that sort of business plan.
I hear you loud and clear SandyF, and yes that may be true as there has been a job sitting on the board that I did over and over and this time asked for a three dollar pad as that is what they recommended in their email to me, and (guess what), I was refused. I am a good shopper for them the last ten years, and damm cannot get a three dollar pad.....give me a break. I would have to drive 30 miles for that, no thanks. None of their jobs pay enough for that commitment. The new schedulers will take new shoppers and save money, shops that give any pad have to be a long distance away and are not fillable....so, when those say they get pad, they are willing to drive to the moon.....

But they didn't tell you the BEST way..........
Irene, maybe we should all in the LA area change our address to Bakersfield or somewhere far. We can have our direct deposits go to our bank or paypal but then if you request PAD for a job that is 100 miles away from your new address and would take you no more time than to drive maybe 25 miles in LA they will agree to PAD for the job. lol but maybe seriously.

I did a casual dining for a $5 bonus the first time, then $10, and the last time, they offered me $15 on the phone. All at the same location.

So, that does not apply in all cases.
If the current pay is $8 they will call and offer $7. It irritates me when they call and offer me less than the current posted fee.
They've offered $6 when the fee online is higher. They may not see what is online or know that it's MOF.
I just got a text to "PLEASE" help out with a grocery needing to be done within a couple days. I text back asking for three dollars pad as there will be traffic after four, and I really don't like that time. She text's back saying sorry, we're not allowed to give pad at this time, begging me to help out, guess I'm a charity case, because I said o.k.
I did tell her to remember me when a favorite restaurant comes up next month...we'll see. This one shop always sits on the board?

It is probably hard for them to schedule shops in this city that fall during rush hour (where I live rush hour is from 6:30 AM til about 10 AM. Lunch rush hour from 11-1:30 and going home rush hour 3P-7:30 P!! and various unknown reasons why traffic gets bad at non rush hour times...car accident , road construction , a plane landed on the freeway etc., a sports game somewhere in my direction)... The schedulers do not seem to think it is an issue for someone to go somewhere at 4 PM since where they live the roads are not yet totally a standstill.
I just checked ISS Scheduling and they have many easy shops and pay a fee of 4.00+2.00 reimbursement, you can't get a cup of coffee for 2.00 anywhere.things are getting worse folks, just saying....for most of us who don't Video shop, it's rough out there. Thank goodness I'm retired, depending on this for a real living, OMG.

I saw those and was shocked. I hope people don't take those.
I almost did just because I was genuinely surprised some more common fast food restaurants I enjoyed were being shopped! Then I realized the fee + reimbursement will barely even cover the meal at these places.
The message on the home page says that if an offer is declined, you can always submit a lower offer. Has anyone been able to do this? I've found that once I submit an offer and it's declined, I can only accept it at listed fee. I suppose you can submit a lower offer by emailing help desk, but that's not what I inferred from their message.

I love your typo. MOF. LOL.

Here's the thing: if you are going to have to eat lunch and you don't feel like packing one, and you are close to that area where a reimbursement food shop is, then it makes sense to do it. You gotta eat. Not having to pay for it (or pay very little over the reimbursement) is nice if it's a place you like.

I had a shop that paid 0 but reimbursed up to $5. They emailed me a bonus of $3. Big deal. I said I would do it for $10 and it got denied. Last week, a scheduler called me to do a fast food shop for $15 and needed to be done that day. I said I would do $20. She told me the client denied the offer, then the scheduler calls back 15 minutes later and said it was accepted. Sometimes it’s a gamble but I was willing to take the chance since I didn’t feel like going out that day.
