New Shop- marijuana

I can understand why there are so many wary of cannabis, but there are a lot of misinformed opinions here.

For one, smoking cannabis is not the medically-approved form of ingestion for anything except glaucoma, depression, and some forms of PTSD. Oils are used for pain management, seizures, cancers, and most everything else. Many of these oils do not get you high.

The Nixon administration actually did thorough research on cannabis, while he was trying to prove it was toxic, and threw out the results when it did not match his agenda.

"Pot" was not born in the 60's. It has been used as a medicine for thousands of years, and could even be found in certain forms in doctor's bags as recently as the 60's.

I encourage everyone to do some research on why cannabis was made a crime. It all had to do with money. Hemp was going to destroy the oil and paper industries, and cannabis was a huge threat to the pharmaceutical industry. Lobbyists. That is why cannabis is illegal.

Anyone want to know where the term "marijuana" came from, and why it is actually a somewhat racist term? It was always called cannabis, until Harry Anslinger decided that cannabis was a threat to his income, so he created hype that Mexicans coming into the country illegally were smoking a new drug (which wasn't at all new) called marijuana, and that doing so made them crazy. He called it the most violence causing drug in the history of mankind, and used people of color as its main "users".

Long story short, everyone should do a little research. People have been lied to in this country for a long time, and all for money.

Also, I have a lot of experience here. I graduated a course on the history of cannabis, learned how to grow it organically, and have watched it work. My mother went from 15 prescriptions a day, all with side effects, to a cookie or brownie at night, some cannabis cream for her arthritis, and 2 medications. She's never "high", and in the best shape she has been for years.

Are you required to purchase marijuana?

As stated above, you could buy socks. You are not required to purchase or use drugs to do the shop.

Every day shoppers get paid to drink booze and eat fast food that is clinically proven to be harmful. I hear very little outrage about that. Why is this topic so polarizing?
KSSPETE did an excellent job of describing the industry. As I have mentioned my husband works for the industry and we have learned so much. I am so surprised at the misinformation out there.
Polarizing? Or, are we all coming from here and there when we look at the issue? smiling smiley

Anyway, why do some people try tobacco and never continue while others are addicted from the first puff or pinch? Why do some smokers quit cold turkey and others struggle to quit even with the use of replacement products? Why do some smokers stay quit while others start smoking again after they have quit? Why do some people spit out the first sip of unfamiliar, nasty alcohol and never want it again while others develop a taste for it and eventually become connoisseurs? Why does another set of persons become addicted to the drink?

Every person does not respond in the same way to substances. Every person is unique, and we do not know for whom the various substances will be helpful, harmful, or neutral.

This is why I splay arms, legs, fingers, toes, eyeballs, and whatever else all over the intersection of 'who, what, when, where, why, how, who said so, and why did they say it?'

Not a matter of misinformation, it's a matter of no information. Most of us were raised with drinking for social
reasons, not having a joint, so now that's it;s legal, give us time to explore. We stayed away from illegal stuff,
and to tell the truth, it's not my world, and if I made it this far, I'll keep going, however, if I hear it can 100% help Glaucoma, I'm in, till then, I'll take a look at the one in Beverly Hills as Steve suggested, and maybe get a Brownie, or not....

Sounds like "I'd like to buy some novelty marijuana socks or some rolling papers" is gonna become the new "I'm just going to sit at this bar and have a Diet Coke while I wait for my friend" or "I just came to this hardware store to buy a candy bar" for some shoppers!

Maybe Marijuana stocks...

Well that we have as part of the company benefits.
You can't rely on the meds prescribed by your doctor either. When drugs are researched, studies that don't deliver the desired results are buried. Only the studies that give the pharm company the desired results are published. How many times do meds have to be recalled because they were found to cause death after FDA approval? Alcohol and tobacco are much more harmful than marijuana. And many marijuana users are doctors, dentists, attorneys, and people with very advanced degrees. They may not reveal that they use it, except to their closest friends. I am not a user, but if Sanjay Gupta gets behind it, he is a pretty smart guy, so I think it can be very helpful for some people. It has been demonized because Big Pharma can't patent it and make money.

For me, it comes down to one question. Am I going to believe my eyes and ears, or the people who profit more from treating me rather than curing me? I know my answer.
@LillyAnne, the US government actually does have a patent on CBD treatments. Patent number 6,630,507, and they were represented by the Department of Public Health and Human Services. Let that sink in a moment. They are telling us all it is a terrible drug, classed higher than heroin and cocaine, but they hold a patent for it. In this patent, it states “No signs of toxicity or serious side effects have been observed following chronic administration of cannabidiol to healthy volunteers, even in large acute doses….”

They want to control the uses and testing for it. Why would they do this? $$$$$$$$$$

The US govt. has held a patent on cannabis since 2003. That speaks volumes IMO. Now that big pharma has arrived to save us from ourselves, expect their friends to make a financial killing $$ developing all sorts of applications for cannabis use. I know many people who use the oil and they say it works wonders.

I don't wait for some authority person to school me; I research things myself. Remember when the authorities said margarine was better than butter ? On eggs, don't separate the yoke from the white-clear part of the egg. Truth. Yokes contain lecithin which is an emulsifier. Cholesterol is found in some foods but in fact more a symptom of a malfunctioning liver. On cannabis, this plant has been used for thousands of years. It is effective and no one has ever died from an overdose.
Thoughts about my Father who smoked three packs of Lucky Strikes a day, before research was done and died at age 59. He always used to say, I'm living the way I want, now they know the truth about nicotine and
smoking is banned in many places and there is open heart surgery, so research is important. What they find out 50 years from now will be interesting, and of course, no one wants to live in fear, it is a make me happy in the moment society. I'm not saying it doesn't have value, everything in moderation, that's all.

Live consciously....
