Anyone else feel bummed Smashburger shops have no fee, while Five Guys does?

I personally don't feel they're worthwhile, b/c of that.

Does anyone like Smashburger's food better than FG?

I like both, though Smashburger has really good side salads. I was doing Smash w/o fee because I needed lunch on the road. Both have easy reports. Sometimes it just comes down ones needs that day.
Agree, wish the had the Five Guys fee, but the report is short and even though I do not eat the fries or drink the soda, it is worth it to buy their double burger for a free dinner even though I end up spending about $2.25 over the shop fee, still worth it, free dinner or lunch and no dishes to clean !!
The last Smashburger I did I got $50 for.
Although the report is MUCH easier than 5G (and 5G is super easy). I like Smash about the same, maybe a bit better.

Hmm...l might have to give Smash another try. I did ONE and was totally unimpressed. The sweet potato fries were hard and tasteless and the burger was meh. But, since you'all like it so much, maybe I'll give it another try. A fee is sometimes added to the ones nearby, but I won't do it for no fee. Thanks.

I have been told that a lot of Smashes closed. The ones I shopped in Charlotte were excellent.
We don't have one anywhere near me, but I'd not do that shop until it's bonused.

Shopping the South Jersey Shore
Jenny, the only reason I shopped a Smashburger was to try it out. I had never seen one before, I found it was very good!
@RobG My boyfriend has 3 near him and he goes a lot. I'd go to try it for sure.

Maybe a bad location? I particularly like their sweet potato fries.

Yea I think it sucks that Smashburger provides no fees. I actually really like Smashburger food so I've been tempted to pick up the shop but I really need some type of payment. I'll probably pick it up if there's a day I need some lunch or dinner.

I only did one shop when they first opened in my area. The thing I noticed was unprofessional workers and a dirty dining room area. The workers were gathered in a big group laughing loudly and chatting at the cash registers. Of course, that's the reason FOR shops. So, hopefully they've improved based on feedback.

But, I still personally like FG food better. If forced to choose, I'd pay for FG food. smiling smiley

Oh man, our only one closed too. It was really good and they filled the space with a freaking pizza hut. We got like 8 of those and they are horrible! I miss smashburger, it was so close to us. All the other great hamburger joints are so far away.

Their best days must be behind them. When I shopped them several years back, the food was top notch. The last few times I went, the fries were nowhere near as seasoned and they made up for that with grease. Pretty lousy trade, IMHO.
I like that the menu has more variety and that there's a veggie burger option (albeit for an upcharge). The two monthly shops for the one near here fly off the board. Although there's no fee at least you can earn rewards points.

I also liked SB, But ours closed here a few months ago.

I feel like there are always new "better burger" (as they're called) joints sprouting up everywhere across America.

I thought Smash was only so-so personally, but I would bet your location or anyone else's with a lost Smash soon gets a new replacement.

I think Culver, Whataburger, Habit, and Shake Shak are spreading (the latter two are definitely part of the better burg trend).

The absolute best burger I had recently was on a Whole Food Market shop of all places! They have a bar/cafe in some of their stores.
Kenasch...just did the new WF in Porter Ranch, fabulous food at the bar. I've had the burger at our older WF and enjoyed it, for sure, their meat is the best around. We don't have Smash here, I do like Five guys, but feel their pricey and reimbursement never covers it...

There are a few in the L.A. area. One in Culver City that I have done when I was over that way for work, another at Citywalk, plus another in downtown that used to be walking distance to me.

That said, we have so many burger options for mystery shops in SoCal it's dizzying.

Yes Steve, sometimes I feel that's all I eat, not going to do so many, limiting it to four, but Black Angus is my fav.,
not shopped of course. The Habit I do but am able to eat anything I want, so salads work.
