Birthday messages

I've gotten several 'happy birthday' e-mails from various MSCs that obviously have that info I have provided into their sassie system or whatever system their using. I don't feel all warm and fuzzy over it but it doesn't really bother me either.

But in addition I've also received, so far, three "happy birthday" messages from car salesmen I shopped that acquired my birthdate from a scan of my license I had to provide for the test drive. It doesn't really bother me either but I can imagine the car salesman I shopped nine months ago woke up this morning and said to himself, "Oh it's JimBob's birthday! I gotta send him a friendly note to let him know I'm thinking about him on this special day!"

(and no, my name's not JimBob... just an example)

I love when anyone sends me a happy birthday....which I will get later this month...smiling smiley

I don't dislike that a birthday message is the marketing chosen by various outfits. Around my birthday I get the little acknowledgments, but I also see coupons for nice $ or % discounts. Frankly it has led me to vary my stated date of birth through various loyalty clubs to spread the discounts around through the year.

I will get a burger from Red Robin, a dessert from both Stone Fire Grill (favorite) and Black Angus.

I find it inappropriate and unprofessional to extend birthday or other personal to those who are not personally known. Old fashioned liberalism. Some things are personal and other things are private.
Nothing is private on the internet...MSC's have your b-day, bank info and such....a B-day card is to respect one that works with you, no more, no less. Whatever floats your boat.

I get a free meal at Golden Corral every year but it is contingent on someone else buying a meal. I never get to use it because no one will go with me. *world's smallest violin plays sorrowful melody*
I've started changing up my date of birth, too. My big day falls in January, when I'm broke and dieting, so I really don't need to be spending money and eating rich food :-)

I recently read that giving a fake birthday for those loyalty programs can help protect your security, so there's that too.

What about the places that ask for your ID to prove it is your birthday and it is you. How do you get around that if you use a fake birthday. For several birthday freebies, I have had to show my driver's license as proof.
The only place I know that does that is Denny's and you don't have to join their loyalty club or anything except show up on your birthday and present your ID for your free meal.
I have several that I have to show ID for so I have never taken a chance and used a fake date although I would love to spread out the goodies. In my birthday month, I always end up eating way too much unhealthy things!
I got each year from Denny's, Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday, some pretzels places..

Shopping Eastern Pennsylvania since 2009
I took my B-day burger today at Red Robin. Service was good, I was able to get a salad instead of fries, and no one checked for ID, just phone # to check Rewards. They totally restored themselves in my mind, as last time service was poor, this time outstanding, and bacon burger great.

I don't know. The ones I've signed up for send me an email or physical coupon that I just have to show when I'm at the location.

And I never can use those offers either because my Birthday is a legal US Holiday.
I just did a beauty shop for Intelli and the lady at the counter asked my birthday to send me a free birthday gift. Will have to wait till Fall to see what they send. I never receive any birthday messages from any of my MSC's. I do get one from Pinecone but that's market research. Oh well, I wouldn't mind one.
That's an idea. My birthday falls on a day I would never be shopping.

I do the same, but use different dates in my 1/2 birthday month (6 months from actual).

Well I guess a free burger's ok, as long as they don't come to your table and start singing at you.
It horrifies me that they might come to my table and sing and clap, but I'd take a free meal if they want to give it to me. I was once taken to Joe's Crab Shack by 2 co-workers for my birthday. One of them mentioned to the server it was my birthday. After the food was served, she came to the table with cymbals, yelling and clapping, and announced to everyone in the restaurant it was my birthday. Then it got worse. She wanted me to stand up and do the hula. I told her several times, very firmly, I wasn't interested and to drop it, but she wouldn't. Both friends told her "Stop. Enough. Go away." She didn't stop. She continued to yell to everyone in the restaurant "Let's all clap and make him get up and hula!" It went on endlessly until I got up and hula-d to shut up the mindless server. And there was no free meal for the birthday guy! Just public humiliation and interruption of the conversation at our table. My two friends and I were mortified. It spoiled the meal. The friend who picked up the check gave the server a Zero tip. The other friend complained to the manager. I didn't complain but I never went back to Joe's Crab Shack.
I probably would have gotten up and walked out before doing a hula dance, my lord! Every time I have had anyone tell them it was my birthday, there was a little singing, a little free dessert, and that was that. That would have pissed me off, too.
lot of restaurant clubs free this or that. Red robin free burger anytime during month. Firehouse Subs free sub anytime during week of birthday. Free blizzard at DQ may have to buy one. Free dessert at lots of places including smokey bones. Enough denny's around can get a free grand slam for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner plus late night if wanted. I also get multiple birthday emails from mscs as well as miscellaneous places I have shopped.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Happy August Birthday, @Aquiest and @Irene_L.A.

Hope your days are or will be great ones!

The older I get, the more I don't really care about my birthday. I guess having a birthday beats the alternative, though. smiling smiley
I always care, will be in Chicago attending a lecture my daughter is giving on Emotional Intelligence, dinner and meeting her wonderful boyfriend...things look serious, so happy I get to spend my B-day and time in general with this savvy couple...smiling smiley Talk about doing something right.......Thanks for the good wishes.
p.s. as long as I don't have to do a hula dance.....

Live consciously....
