More profit, less expenses

@panama18 the one I was using before did have interest.. but I recently did a Suntrust credit card shop and there is 15 months no interest on it so I switched to this. However in order to get an interest free credit card I will have to keep applying for new ones right?

If the GOAL is to never carry a cc balance from month to month, may be better off getting a lower interest credit union debt consolidation loan for exiting balances and paying off ALL new cc debt, in full, each month.

If it's on a path you are already traveling, how could that be a waste of time? I had to go to the doctor the other day, and it was about halfway to an area where I had a few shops that are due by Friday, so I went ahead and did the shops after my appointment. Anytime you can utilize your time and your fuel optimally, it is not a waste of time. It is a good idea of course to try and cluster your shops in the same area, and keep in mind that if the due dates don't match up, schedulers will sometimes adjust them for you if you explain why you need the date changed (if they can).

@walesmaven So would you say its a waste of time to do shops that are in different areas? Today I have 5 shops. 2 are online, the other 3 are in different areas but one is near my job, the second is halfway to my house and the third is near my house. Is this okay or am I not utilizing my routes properly?
I haven't paid cc interest since I was in my 20s. I always got the 0% interest cards whenever possible. There were a few times I had a transaction fee free balance transfer offer on a new 0% card, so when it was time, I transferred it over and gradually paid off that balance. But, I never had any major debt.

Which brings to mind savings accounts. I know a few friends who have savings accounts at their banks that earn less than 1%, but they have credit card debt at a much higher rate and they carry a balance from month to month. Makes no sense to me. Pay off the cc debt and then get an online savings account (American Express or similar) earning over 2% interest.

Hi Kristy, as far as I know, all 0% credit cards are just a promotional offer. I have never heard of an interest free credit card that was permanently at that rate.

Many years ago the thrift shop volunteers in LA got smart and started using their smart phones to look up prices on things. Yes, occasionally things of value slip through unnoticed but I see them pricing items they take in by looking up their value first. Since then the "finds" are hard to come by. Some thrift shops here have a special room for the more expensive goods and locked cabinets for the more than 50 cent small jewelry and such. Probably why the Hollywood people could not find things they needed here. Also don't forget, a house here that is 30-50 years old is considered old by some and ready for a tear down. There are few attics, garages, basements of stuff that has accumulated over several lifetimes. Actually due to earthquakes basements of any age are few and far between.

Oh, eBay! Yes! When I had an active seller's account, I would go into every thrift shop close to the shops I was doing. I found a gravy boat (I believe the pattern was Schlessenger 152) for 50 cents, sold it within 5 hours of listing it for $105. I have bought Aloha shirts for 50 cents and a dollar, resold on eBay at $20-$40 ($40 is for silk). I bought an original Sears, Roebuck 1909 catalog (not a reprint) for $2 and got $105 for it, too -- and it also sold overnight. Other thrift stores finds were books, silk ties, candlesticks, lamps, and clocks -- all great profit makers. Heck, I'd buy old (really, really old) patterns (yes, for sewing) for 10 cents each and sell them in a bundle for $10. Most of those went to Los Angeles/Hollywood area -- I always assumed they went to costumers looking for authentic patterns for shows they were working on. There are patterns from the 20s and 30s and 40's with specific star's names on them that bring really great dollars.

I used to just Google to find thrift shops where ever my route was taking me!

Selling on eBay meshes NICELY with US postal shops, LOL!!!! Makes a win-win-win!!!

My children were required to go to the Goodwill distribution center as part of their volunteer work in high school. They observed some of the special needs workers there, whose job it was to scan the books and check the values, so that high priced items would not slip past them and make it to the sales floor.
I sometimes see 0% balance transfer promotions on cards I've had for years. So you might not need to get a new card if a card you already have does a 0% promotion when you need it.
